While we wait for The Old Republic: I.M.P.S - The Relentless: Chapter 1

Share

Is this the long awaited "TROOPS 2?"

Originally this project was to be the sequel to “Troops” but over the course of writing and production, it evolved into something entirely different. "Troops2" was the working title of the production until the script was completed, and the project assembled. Chapter 1 of IMPS, “The Rail-Runners - Davenport Gateway” acts as a bridge to take us from the ‘COPS’ format to the soldiers of the many branches of the Imperial military. Since the military does actually act as peace officers in many cases, we thought it would be appropriate. As we delve into further Chapters, and the men and women who work as Imperial soldiers, we seek to learn who these characters are, how they came to be here, and what their responsibilities are, etc. This is why we now call it I.M.P.S. - The Relentless.

Dumb. Far too long. Could've been edited to 7-8 minutes.

*Caution* Contains some spoilers.

Clicked because it was made by the same guys that made TROOPS way back when. Based on their earlier work, I stuck around for the whole thing, thinking it would get better. But I have to say, I'm not terribly impressed.

There were some good things. I loved the title sequence. The switchup to English was very well done. It's too bad the color scheme didn't hold up well against most of the backdrops.

The voice actors were a mixed bag, but came off sounding like a pretty diverse group of soldiers, so that worked in your favor.

Some of the settings were very well rendered. A lot of attention to detail. Nice.

The soundtrack is too loud, drowning out the narrator and actors in most places.

The lumbering beauty shots in the intro and accompanying narration are FAR too long.

While I did enjoy the seedy underbelly setting, the guest appearances just ruined the setting for me.

I think maybe you suffered a bit of Lucas Syndrome and tried to overdo this. Please don't try so hard on the next installation. There was enough good in this to make it worth watching.

Absolutely brilliant. Although it could have been edited to be a tad shorter, you have recreated the feel of classic Star Wars very well. Keep up the good work!
