The Guild Sphere: Warmadden

A new week has begun, and a new guild is answering our questions. This time Warmadden, a progression PvE focused Sith guild, took the time to answer some questions about them self. Enjoy!

Where did your guilds name come from?
Warmadden is a combination of War and Madden, or War Crazed. The name was first thought of years ago and was actually the name of one of my toons in EQ.

Can you give me a quick 2-3 sentence description of your guild?
Active, active, active lol. There is literally not a time that you can make a thread on our forums and not have it replied to within a few minutes, if not seconds. We are a true community of friends, while few of us ever knew each other before Warmadden. We are a progression guild that believes that are members have lives outside of a game.

How did your guild come about?
After leading a Sith guild early on, I had my ‘co guild leader’ leave with most of my members. So I went back to the drawing board and created Warmadden, with a new set of rules and hierarchy. With Warmadden, the members run the guild. Our officers and I are only here to make sure that are members have the best gaming life possible.

What kind of play style do you focus on? PvE, PvP, RP:
All three lol? We actually are progression PvE focused, we will strive to be top 5 server in raid progression. We also have a great PvP department with a dedicated leader and PvP events on our calendar. Since we will be on a RP-PvP server we know it’s important to have a well organized guild, and PvP team. We have an ‘all call’ system where when a member is being griefed they can make an all call and our team of PvPers (Called the Minutemen) will respond and help that guild member.

We will also have a kill on sight list for any griefers that we encounter. RP is our red headed stepchild. While we have some members that like to RP, as a whole we are not RPers. We will have in game medal awards and ceremonies, but that is the extent (At this time) of our RP.

What is your guild set up? How do you run your guild?
At this moment and membership level we have a guild leader, and two officers that run the day to day guild needs. We also have a staff of administrators that work with the officers to streamline the duties of running the guild. For instance, we have a Marketing administrator who just works to get the Warmadden name out in the public eye. There is always work to be done, and the members of Warmadden who wants to help has the ability to.

We run Warmadden as our members want. With that said, we are not ‘mob rule’. The officers and I make choices based on whats best for the guild and the direction that we need to take it. However, we always listen to our members and in the end we do whats best for Warmadden. Without the members of Warmadden, we wouldn’t have a guild and the day I or my officers forgets this, then its the day someone steps down from leadership.

How serious do you play and/or run the guild?
The officers and I treat running Warmadden as a second job, so our members don’t have to and just enjoy gaming with the guild. We have safeguards in place to prevent and help with leadership burnout and the officers and I are very close and keep in touch all the time in and out of game and guild life. The leadership structure that we have is very strong and we have great motivated people who really love Warmadden.

Do you have ranks or a certain hierarchy in your guild?
We have a forum hierarchy of certain ranks you can obtain through post counts, a very extensive medal system that rewards members for good acts both in and out of game. As well as medals for in game achievements, such as the first person who wipes a raid will get the “I Eat Pie” medal. We also have pins you can obtain through forum and in game achievements. As far as an extensive ranking system, we have a separate rank for Guild Leader, Officers, Admin and Member.

Why did you choose the Sith?
This is probably the shortest answer here… Simply: I like being bad :p

Why do you run a guild?
Like the real world, there are leaders and followers. I am a leader, it’s something I enjoy. I’ve been around the block a bunch of times and I have formed a gaming philosophy. So I choose to game a certain way, or choose a certain server type. I recruit and surround myself with like minded people who also enjoy gaming with the same philosophy. In the end we have a community of people who all want to game the same way. This is what i’m good at, organizing, leading people down a path to have fun at gaming. Which in return gives me a sense of satisfaction, that I’ve done good. This is why I lead a guild, I enjoy it.

How do you approach Raid Planning?
I’m not sure I understand the question. However, we will only be raiding three nights per week, so we will have to maximize the time we have to perfection if we want to compete for server firsts. So raid planning on any given night is a huge thing. We will have raid assistants online 45 minutes before each raid making sure that members have done what they need to, to be ready for that raid.

Are you always open for new recruits or do you want to keep a certain guild size?
We have an internal maximum member count of 75 members. And I’m not even sure we want that many, with the announcement of 8 and 16 man only raids. It’s something we will have to look further into as game launch nears.

Age Requirement?
We have a strict 18+ age limit in Warmadden. It’s not what everyone thinks when they first hear that requirement. It’s not so much that we don’t think someone under 18 can’t be mature, it’s more so that our adult members don’t feel the need to ‘sensor’ themselves around younger members, and there is always the “i’m sorry I couldn’t make the raid, I was grounded” sentence that always pops it’s head up at some point when you allow the under 18+ crowd into the guild.

Guild size?
Right now we are at around 35 members. As I said in another answer, we have an internal number of 75 for a maximum of members but we may need to rethink that at some point. So, come apply today it might be your last chance!

What makes your guild stand out from everyone else? What makes your guild unique?
One word: Banin. (Sorry Banin lol)… I’m not sure there is much uniqueness about Warmadden to be honest with you. We have all the same things other guilds have, a youtube channel, facebook, twitter, a professional website and an active community. We only recruit good people, so once you meet Warmadden in Ventrilo or on our forums you instantly feel welcomed. We try to be as nice to people as we can, or as the situation dictates lol. The only thing I can tell you is that Warmadden has a unique feel to it, there is something special with this guild!

How do you spend your time until release? Do you know each other in real life or do you spend a lot of time on forums?
I’m glad you asked this question! We have two event coordinators that their only job is to figure out ways to keep people entertained. Some of the events that we’ve had lately are: Talk like a pirate day (on the forums), A guess the guild leaders main contest, they’ve hid a single character somewhere on our website for us to look for, when someone finds it (its a link, could be anything even a . ) they will be taken to a different page where they have to answer a question (lore related), if answered correctly then you get a reward.

We also have a very active forum. There is always someone online and posts and threads are answered in minutes. Sometimes I log on after a day of work and I have literally 50 new posts to go thru. We have social nights every Thursday on Ventrilo were all the guild members log on and we spend the evening talking about… really everything lol. Even though this is a weekly event, you can hardly never not find a few people on vent to talk to on any given night.

Our members play various games with each other, nothing guild sponsored though. People can take care of their boredom however they want :p

What Other Games are you currently playing as a guild?
None

If somebody is interested now how and where can they apply for membership?
I hope I have peaked some interest in Warmadden, and if they want to go through our interview process they can apply at www.warmadden.com

One last question, if there was one thing you could ask the Dev’s to include, what would it be?
I would ask to be able to have my toon sit in a chair! lol just kidding… In all seriousness I would want Space combat (real space combat, with PvP) to be included at launch. It just won’t seem like Star Wars without being able to kill some Republic with my fighter.
