The Star Wars Battlefront Beta is Coming Early October.

Electronic Arts just announced that Star Wars Battlefront, the much-anticipated shooter from Battlefield studio DICE, is getting a beta:   Ever since we revealed Star Wars™ Battlefront™ in April at Star Wars™ Celebration, you’ve been asking us if there would be a Beta. Today, we are thrilled to finally be able to answer that question, and the answer is yes!  Coming early October to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and on Origin for PC, the Star Wars Battlefront Beta* is a technical test and will feature Walker Assault on Hoth, a 40-player multiplayer battle featuring Rebels and the Empire. Walker Assault will also give you the chance to play as two of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars™ universe: Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. The Beta will also feature our Survival Mission on Tatooine, where you and a Rebel friend must fight back waves of Imperial forces.  In addition to those two modes, we are excited to reveal a brand-new mode that will be available in the Beta, Drop Zone. We’ll be sharing more details on Drop Zone in the weeks ahead.  As part of the Star Wars Battlefront Beta we are also happy to reveal the Star Wars Battlefront Companion experience. Available during the Beta at www.StarWarsBattlefront.com, the Star Wars Battlefront Companion experience features the strategic card game Base Command, and lets you earn in-game Credits that unlock Star Cards, weapons, and more in Star Wars Battlefront. In addition to Base Command, the Companion also lets Rebels and Imperials alike check game stats and progression, customize load-outs and appearance, connect with friends, and get notified when they’re playing Star Wars Battlefront – as well as gather intel on their stats and progression so you can see how you match up! The Star Wars Battlefront Companion will be available on web and in the Apple App Store™ and Google Play™ store prior to the release of Star Wars Battlefront on November 17.  We’ll have a lot more info regarding the Star Wars Battlefront Beta in the weeks ahead, so be sure to stay tuned to this page, follow us on social, and sign-up for our newsletter to get all the latest news.  BETA PARTICIPATION REQUIRES AN INTERNET CONNECTION AND ACCEPTANCE OF THE BETA AGREEMENT. GAMEPLAY PROGRESS, ACHIEVEMENTS, CHARACTERS, CHARACTER DATA AND/OR ANY OTHER VALUE OR STATUS INDICATORS ACHIEVED THROUGH GAMEPLAY IN THE BETA WILL NOT TRANSFER TO STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT MAIN GAME OR STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT COMPANION. BETA IS PRE-RELEASE SOFTWARE, MAY CONTAIN ERRORS/DEFECTS AND IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY. The Villains of Star Wars: Battlefront Boba Fett

The Villains of Star Wars: Battlefront Boba Fett

Every fan of Star Wars has their own vision and thoughts of what Boba Fett is all about. This is what DICE Senior Producer Jamie Keen thinks: “He became an instant favorite on the floor. All the developers at our office have their own determined, passionate view on what Boba Fett should be.” Every single fan of Star Wars, not only just the DICE developers, have a special place in their hearts for the bounty hunter. Boba Fett is one of the iconic villains that will be playable in Star Wars: Battlefront and he is designed to be a dreaded force during battle. His special mobility and deadly lot of weapons will send you running if you spot him on the battlefront. One of the greatest fantasies of actually walking in his boots will finally be a reality. Boba Fett’s jet pack will allow him to fly around the many maps and this makes him incredibly mobile and also gives him the ability to take shots from the air with his awesome EE-3 Carbine Rifle. The famous bounty hunter also comes equipped with two wrist launchers, one that is armed with a rocket and one that is armed with a Flame Blast attack. When they made the decision to select Boba Fett’s in-game arsenal, the team relied on what is shown in the original trilogy and beyond, as Keen explains: “As originally portrayed in the films, Boba Fett has a wealth of gadgets at his disposal but we only see him use a fraction of these in the films. There’s much more than the jetpack and blaster rifle going on. Boba Fett’s got a disintegrator pistol, a flame pack in one arm, rockets, dart launchers, and even lasers. So there was a lot to choose from before we wound up with the final loadout.” All depending on what you’re playing style is, Boba Fett could become one of your favorite Hero or Villain characters in the new game. If you prefer charging your enemy with melee attacks, then characters like Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader might be better choices for you. But, if you prefer moving swiftly and keeping distance from the enemies, Boba Fett is the perfect choice for you. By mastering his airborne abilities, you will be able to escape death above the ground while taking down enemies as you go. “When we first designed Boba Fett’s flight pack, it quickly became clear that the ability to fly unhindered was very powerful compared to other characters who didn’t have that ability,” Jamie Keen explains. “For instance, when Boba Fett was facing off with Luke Skywalker in early development, it was unbalanced as there were no limitations placed upon his flight capability. That’s why we’ve added a fuel mechanic which forces Boba Fett to land from time to time before he can take off again.” Let’s say you’re facing an opponent like Luke Skywalker and he can anticipate your landings, then you might find yourself in a sticky situation, up close and personal. However, once you’re up in the air again you will be able to continue taking shots and dodging them as well. After a little bit of practice time with Boba Fett, the flow of shooting at your enemies while flying will become easier. “One of...

Versus Series | Revan vs Galen Marek: Video

The Balance of the Force. Who is the true master of the light and dark? That is a very good question for Star Wars fans everywhere and this versus video attempts to answer that, complete with some background on each character and a timeline of events of progression. This Versus video, just over 30 minutes runtime, explains the background of Revan and Marek, including how they came into power, how they changed over time and other life and background info. It’s a good recap too for those who might not remember (or just don’t know) the full stories of each. As we’ve said before about these versus videos, this is just one person’s interpretation of the outcome of the matchup.   It’s quite common that we see fans squabble over this and honestly, it’s part of the fun for me. Seeing how different fans interpret the potential faceoff and who they think will win is fun for me. So if you have not seen it yet, here’s the video and you can see for yourself what happens and if you agree with the...

Star Wars Battlefront Classes in LEGO Form

Star Wars Battlefront Classes in LEGO Form

Okay, regular readers know what a big LEGO fan I am. There are few things I love more than LEGO Star Wars so I found this pretty cool and had to share it with you. You can see from the images below that another fan created some Star Wars Battlefront classes out of minifigs. They’re pretty spot on with what the real classes would look like and the builder had a fine eye for detail when it comes to getting these right. battle front classes Here we have seven images that depict the Star Wars Battlefront classes. There’s the Clone Trooper, Heavy Trooper, Sharpshooter, Engineer, Clone Commander, and Jet Trooper. The Jet Trooper’s gun isn’t exactly spot on since it should be a little bit wider but we think he did awesome with what he had to work with. You could probably also do Rebels and Stormtroopers if you wanted and had all the parts and mini figurines to work it out. You might have to get creative with certain parts or even print some out and use paper construction to add pieces (this is a little trick my kids like to do) but it could definitely work. What figures would you like to see from Star Wars LEGO. If LEGO did an official Battlefront set, would you buy it? If you’re a combined Star Wars and LEGO fan like me, do you use your sets solely for display or do you play with them too? Are you more into the building process or the completed look once...

SWTOR Livestream Companion Wrap-up

Have any questions on companions in Star Wars: Knights of the fallen empire? Ask them now, on the official forums, and BioWare will answer: August Livestream Wrap-up | 08.27.2015, 02:30 PM Quote: Originally Posted by Excise Good stream. Question #2: Will any new companions have conversation quests? Question #3: Will any old companions have new conversation quests? Question #1 – That understanding is correct. Question #2/3 – Are you specifically talking like “in your cantina or on your ship” type conversations? Or just dialog directly with that Companion? Some of these it’s especially hard to find appropriate gear for. For example, Lord Scourge. It’s really not possible to recreate his original look because any gear that looks like that is restricted to the Imp side. This is a great question/suggestion. I will pass it on to the team. Will any and all changes to the companion system also be applied to the 1-60 leveling experience?(multiple roles in combat, or whatever changes you introduce to crafting) 4. Should I remove them before starting KOTFE? Yes. Level and Presence. What Presence does is increase damage, healing output, and total health of your Companions. Yup! Yup again. The plan right now is they will be mailed to you when they come off your Companion in...

Do You Save Your Game Boxes?

Do You Save Your Game Boxes?

A player posted this on Imgur and got me thinking about something:   Do you still have your original SWTOR case? I very clearly remember the countdown for the game. Some of you will know already that we spent years here writing about SWTOR even before the launch so it was a very exciting time to finally have the game coming out. Looking back on that game box image makes me think of those early days and the anticipation, combined with our excitement to finally be playing the game. It also brings up some thoughts about game boxes in general. The topic of SWTOR game cases/boxes reminds me of a conversation I was having with a good friend recently. We were reminiscing on how we always saved our video game boxes back in the day. I had Collector’s Editions of everything I played when it was offered and I often kept the boxes on a shelf in my office along with the items that came with it. You would often get an in-game item along with a figurine, cards or posters, or some other real life items that showed you had purchased the CE. And it was cool! Sure, you had to pay more but you got something awesome with it and you could prove what a true fan you were. Hardcore collectors might have years’ worth of cases, boxes, and memorabilia of their favorite games. You could easily create an awesome “gamer cave” room full of your favorite stuff. I now have over 300 games on my Steam account and I do admit that I love the ease with which we can get games these days. I also like that digital downloads are cheaper, there are often awesome sales and I can buy complete editions or series’ without much hassle or cost. That said, I still often miss the old-school appeal of boxes, especially Collector’s Editions, and having the feel of something tangible in your hands. I still have some of my old collector’s boxes but not nearly what I would have if this trend was still as popular and digital downloads had not taken over the industry. So what about you? Still have your SWTOR box? Do you collect game cases and boxes or other...
