Lots of great things came out of San Diego Comic-Con, making me sad that I don’t still live there so I could have attended myself. One of the more exciting stories was from the fan who played Alderaan Warzone 13 times. He was kind enough to gloat about share his experience with the rest of us as follows: “Okay, okay. I was able to hang out at Bioware Base for 4 days and maybe was able to play some PVP matches while camping the lines. It may or may not have been 13 times. Muawhahehahehah. Jealous? I know I would have been if it wasn’t me. It’s taken a bit to collect my thoughts and type all the details up on all my matches, but here it is, folks. I hope there’s no typos or horrific grammar, but this has been a long few days working on this. Be gentle….
This week BioWare’s Director of Production Dallas Dickinson returns with an E3 2011 preview video of a mission to save the planet Alderaan in Star Wars: The Old Republic. The video is short but it makes its time count by serving up a look at one of the group missions that players can engage in on the Alderaan. And while there are no electrocuted Jawas in this one (that never gets old), there are plenty of blasters and lightsabers.
Danish SWTOR Fansite swtor.dk was quick to capture some screenshots of BioWares live stream earlier today ( More on this in a later news post). Here we get glimpse at Tropper, Jedi and Smuggler in what looks to be a Alderaan operation. Check them out below:
BioWare have updated there SWTOR Facebook page with a new weekly Star Wars: The old republic Image. the description goes as this: High among towering mountain peaks on Alderaan, this settlement shows no obvious signs of the growing political unrest that plagues the planet. I really hope that building has some sort of anti-snow on stairs device working. Extremely hard to imagine no snow on a building that is in the highest points of a snowy mountain peak. 5000 years later… BOOOOM!
Instead of capturing your enemies flag to rack up points, in this battle ground you take control of massive cannons that you use to destroy enemy aircraft. The more you attack your enemy with the cannon supporting your allies fighting in close combat the more you drive enemy to retreat from said battle field. But remember don’t leave one guy with cannon alone or some sneaky scoundrel will take a shot at his head and you will be the ones running for the hills. More on this by Rich McCormick over at PC gamer. Here is a snip: The Old Republic’s warzones are the game’s PvP arenas. When you and your buddies elect to bash some fellow humans, you’ll hop into a warzone from your current location; once complete, you’ll zip back to where you were, resplendent in your new and useful gear. So far, so MMO, but The Old Republic…

During the Mandalorian Wars, the planet was threatened with invasion by the forces of Cassus Fett, but the entire invasion force was prematurely decimated, due to misuse of an ancient Sith artifact. In response, a Republic and Jedi taskforce launched a swift counter-offensive against the Sith; recapturing the planet and inflicting a heavy defeat on the Sith. As a consequence of the Sith invasion, the Alderaanian leadership adopted a hardline militarist stance towards the Sith Empire in the…
