There is a lot of buzz about Star Wars Battlefront 2 going around, as the much anticipated game will be launching this year. The recent DICE games of Battlefield and Battlefront have seen a growth in sales over time where games like Call of Duty are on the decline in sales. The Call of Duty franchise was a massive hit but it may have already peaked. This article from Gamer Headquarters talks about how Battlefront 2 could beat Call of Duty when it comes to sales. Here’s part of what they had to say about it: “The first Star Wars Battlefront topped over 14 million sales which is damn impressive for a franchise that’s been sitting dormant for many years. Sure, carrying the Star Wars name is helpful though to hit that level of sales is most certainly impressive. This really being for any game as few hit that high…

Battlefront II Will Be a Better Game but Possible Financial Disappointment

If you’re like the rest of us, you might be anxiously awaiting Battlefront II. The thing is, we don’t really know very much about it. That’s how they generally do these games. Anything Star Wars, especially since the new films have started production, is kept under lock and key for the most part, until it’s ready for release. That leaves a lot of open doors for speculation and Mathew Falvai of a90skid.com has some theories on what will happen with Battlefront II. In this post, he describes why he thinks it will be a better game but an overall financial disappointment. “My prediction is that gamers will do what they traditionally do and judge a game based on their last experience. The new Battlefront promises more robust single-player content, and an actual campaign, fixing two of the major issues. With the foundation of a jaw-droppingly beautiful engine and reusable assets already in place, DICE had…

No More New Content Updates For Star Wars Battlefront

It appears that Dice won’t release any more new content updates for Star Wars Battlefront. Since it’s no longer a secret that Battlefront 2 is in the works, it’s not really a big chock, but at least we now got an official confirmation on it, as EA Star Wars tweeted out: “There are currently no plans to add any new content updates to Star Wars Battlefront. ” @Gamemaster6481 There are currently no plans to add any new content updates to Star Wars Battlefront. — EAStarWars (@EAStarWars) February 15, 2017 So, I guess we have to stick with the game as it is,  until the sequel is out later this year. The Story Behind the Doomed Battlefront 3

Sadly, there was a battlefront game that was never meant to be: Battlefront 3. Star Wars Battlefront is an action shooter video game developed by EA DICE, with additional work from Criterion Games, and published by Electronic Arts. Battlefront 3 was the game that we never got. Details and salvaged footage from Free Radical’s Star Wars Battlefront 3 can now be found online. So fans of Star Wars: Battlefront I and Star Wars: Battlefront II were looking for their Star Wars: Battlefront III and got Star Wars Battlefront instead. A lot of people were disappointed in EA’s Star Wars Battlefront for various reasons. Gameplay video from the cancelled Star Wars Battlefront 3

Here is a pretty nifty look at the cancelled Battlefront 3’s first campaign mission. The video was uploaded by Youtube User FuZaH who has the following to say about it: Yup, I had some more tucked away. (I seriously apologise for the earrape level of the audio. The footage must’ve been captured like that. I’ve ran it through Premiere to limit the peaks but its still pretty bad. RIP headphone users.) Also; this is alpha footage from early November. I’d assume a few of the bugs in this were worked out in their last build. If any ex-Free Radical/LucasArts developers see this video, and have a build, I would be very appreciative if you contacted me. I’d like to discuss a few things with you. Also, EA, to make up for the disappointment that is “EAFront”, could you just finish this game and release it as Battlefront: Legacy? If you don’t want…

Star Wars: Battlefront Getting a Change in Leadership

According to a Tweet from Battlefront’s lead designer, Dennis Brannvall, there could be a change in leadership happening. He announced he has worked his last day on Battlefront and it’s time to pass the reigns. He’s taking paternity leave to help out with his boys, one a recently announced new addition to the family. So today I worked my last day on Battlefront. I’ll be on paternity leave, taking care of my two boys. See you next year! — Dennis Brännvall (@DICE_FireWall) November 7, 2016 Many from the US will agree that we need better maternity/paternity leave programs here as dads nearly never secure time off and the mothers get only a short time, or are sometimes forced to quit or have their positions replaced while they are away on maternity leave. Lucky for Brannvall, he lives in a country that respects the value of family and he should be back…

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Coming in Fall 2017

News released about Star Wars Battlefront 2 and not surprisingly, it will be releasing in Fall of 2017, just in time for Star Wars 8. While this is certainly not a surprise to anyone, it’s still good to get a confirmation. We still don’t have a lot of information yet and we don’t even know for sure what the title is going to be. The first Star Wars Battlefront (technically the third main Battlefront game, and the second to have that exact title) came out in 2015 and tied in with the release of The Force Awakens. “We’re working very hard on making sure that it’s an extremely deep and engaging offering,” EA chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen confirmed in a conference call with financial analysts. He said the game will release in “a year from now” and just in time for the holidays. While it’s not a firm release date…

Star Wars: Battlefront’s Death Star DLC Nails it!

Star Wars: Battlefront’s latest DLC, called Death Star, was preceded by an insane amount of buzz, but when it landed, it actually fulfilled all expectations and more. In fact, its only shortcoming is that it’s way too short and that it brings less content than one would like. That is not to say there isn’t enough new content in the DLC. It’s all just so seamless and well-integrated into the movie-universe, that while playing, one actually feels like he/she is taking an active part in Star Wars canon. It makes people hungry for more, while indeed promising them a lot more in – as yet hypothetical – future expansions. There are so many great ideas, so many opportunities and potential offered by the Star Wars universe, it’s almost impossible for the devs to get things wrong from here on out. While everything is superbly rendered in the game, there are…

Obsidian Create Stunning Star Wars Environments

Pillars of Eternity developer Obsidian have a soft spot for Star Wars, or at least some of their artists do, who – reportedly in their spare time – put their skills and the power of the Unreal 4 engine to use, creating some superb Star Wars environments, which aren’t matched details-wise by any of the movies or games of the Star Wars universe. Considering the level of detail and image quality achieved by some of Star Wars: Battlefront’s incarnations, that is quite a statement to make, but it holds true nonetheless. The said environments are rendered in real time and they can actually be downloaded and explored. Obviously though, one does need a powerful computer to do that. Also involved in the project – besides other members of the Obsidian development team – was senior environment artist Jason Lewis, who did not shy away from going into all sorts of…
