Star Wars: Episode VII

Potential Star Wars Episode VII Leak from 4Chan [Warning: Possible spoilers within. Read at your own risk]

These new leaks supposedly comes from a Lucasfilm employee who provides some details on various aspects of the upcoming Star Wars movie: The Force Awakens. We cannot verify if any or all of the rumored information provided in this post is considered new material or if it is just a roundup of existing rumors that have already been posted before, but it is still a quite interesting read. The film is dystopian and darker than Empire. Some 30-40 years have passed since Return of the Jedi, and the Empire and New Republic have been locked in a war of attrition. Everyone is languishing and sick of the war. The script, which is described as “too good for JJ Abrams”, begins in space, above a desert planet — presumably Tatooine. The opening crawl details the ongoing turmoil in the galaxy. How the fall of the Emperor left a void of power,…

Star Wars: The Force Awakens – the John Boyega Storm Trooper Controversy

According to some, racism has again reared its ugly head in regards to Star Wars lore elements newly introduced by Episode 7. More precisely, what happened was that actor John Boyega was shown as a storm-trooper in The Force awakens teaser, and some of the fans and critics voiced their objections to the presence of a black storm-trooper. Boyega was quick to address the criticism through Twitter, essentially telling everyone to just “get used to it”. While this is definitely not the first (and probably not the last) time that a movie’s cast led to racial back and forth, the question remains whether Boyega’s critics can indeed be considered racist, or they’re just Star Wars canon-nazis. Star Wars fans are notoriously touchy when it comes to tampering with their storylines. The lot critical of the black storm-trooper will probably point it out that all storm troopers were the clones of…

More Episode VII Rumors/Spoilers Surface

Despite the secrecy surrounding the newest Star Wars movie currently in production, various details regarding its plot, title, character distribution and the props used in it, keep surfacing. At this pace, by the time the finished product actually hits the big screen, people will know the entire storyline and they’ll just show up to see how the director actually pulled things off. For one thing: Episode VII actually has a title now. It’s called “The Force Awakens” – a wonderfully Star Wars-y title indeed, which is a great throwback that manages to avoid being similar to past titles in the series. We kept hearing that Episode VII was going to be an extension of the original trilogy and its title really does come to confirm that. The announcement was made by Disney with surprisingly little fanfare, considering the high-profile nature of the project. In other Episode VII spoiler news: a…

Star Wars Episode VII villain image leaked

With Star Wars Episode VII wrapping up filming earlier this week, rumors started flying again in many websites across the internet. While it would be great if every single one of them were true, one needs to take them with a grain of salt. Is this the new villain of Star Wars Episode VII? Image source: starwarsunderworld.com  The latest one comes from Star Wars Underworld and deals with the main villain of Episode VII. The owners of the website claim that they managed to get a hold of a picture of the main villain from the upcoming Star Wars movie that’s set to be released on December 18 next year.  Whether this is a real or not remains to be seen, but one does have to admit that it looks somewhat familiar (especially to SWToR fans – which would be a pretty cool movie tie-in). The website claims that the authenticity of the image…

Episode 7 Ready for Post Production?

According to Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy, filming on Episode 7, the much-awaited Star Wars movie sequel, is about three weeks from being completed. Most of the footage is apparently done, and after the actual camerawork is finished, the movie will enter post-production, where the special effects, the sounds and the score shall be added, which will apparently take about another year to complete. Given that the above said announcement was made about a week ago at the Industrial Light and Magic Studio opening in London, it is safe to assume that the movie is indeed on track: great news for fans of the series as well as for the fans of the upcoming Battlefront title currently under production by DICE. While the actual plot tie-ins between the Episode 7 and Battlefront will be few and far between, the release of the two titles will apparently be timed to more or less…

Drones Reveal Various Episode VII Details

These days, not much surfaces about the newest Star Wars game currently under production at DICE studios, but when it comes to the actual movie also in the works, Episode VII, producers find it much more difficult to keep everything under wraps. Apparently, the age of drones makes keeping large props out of the spotlight downright impossible, especially if the crew – like the Episode VII team – fails to even set up a more or less rudimentary drone shield. Indeed, fans operating drone aircraft have spotted a number of interesting props at the scene of the shoot, about 50 miles outside of London. The said props were a half-finished Millenium Falcon, as well as an X-wing fighter. Although these bits of information don’t exactly say a whole lot about the story so they can be hardly considered spoilers, the producers would obviously prefer to keep such things out of…

No Qui-Gon Jinn Appearances Planned for Episode VII

Although Liam Neeson would apparently be happy to reprise his Star Wars role as Qui-Gon Jinn, he has not been asked to appear in the upcoming Episode VII. In a recent interview, the actor said he would be happy to slip back into the iconic Star Wars character if needed, and that he certainly wouldn’t want someone else to pick up the role. He also admitted though that he knew nothing about the story to be featured by Episode VII, but he suspected it was built around a different generation of characters, one that his own came well before. Given the flexibility of the Star Wars universe however, and the way it can be expanded, there’s little the producers couldn’t pull off if they wanted to in a way that would fit perfectly into the lore. If they wanted Neeson back in the movie, they could bring him back as…

Next ‘Star Wars’ Will Have Less CGI, More Practical Effects

What do the future Star Wars films hold for us? Fans everywhere are at the edge of their seats waiting for any new information about the films. Well, here’ s a little update. Rian Johnson says the next ‘Star Wars’ will have less CGI and more practical effects. At the time of the first trilogy, the special effects were new and all the rage. Now, we’ve seen that happen time and time again in Hollywood. Hollywood Reporter has this to say: As if videos from the set of J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars movie featuring live-action alien costumes and full-scale X-Wing Fighters haven’t been enough of a clue, Rian Johnson, who will pick up the franchise after Abrams, says Star Wars: Episode VII will feature more practical, traditional effects. “They’re doing so much practical building for this one. It’s awesome,” Johnson said on the latest Girls in Hoodies podcast. “I think people are coming back around to [practical effects]. It feels like there is sort of…

Star Wars: Episode VII Rumors and Leaks

Following up on Elrik post, I wanted to make a run down on all the newest rumors on Star Wars: Episode 7. Could there be a spy behind the scenes of Star Wars Episode VII? Or maybe some of these leaks were done on purpose? The Star Wars franchise is notorious for being tight-lipped about developments and productions but recently there has been a surge of photos leaked out from the set of the new film leaking concept art and props. Disney and Lucasfilm did not comment on the leak and whether or not the photos are legit (which is to be expected). So for now we have to treat this like a rumor but it’s a very interesting rumor indeed. Here are some of the things being leaked that has people talking: New Stormtrooper helmets – Indie Revolver’s Jay Carlson made a post with some images of what was supposed to…

Star Wars Episode VII villains may have just been revealed…and their descriptions sound very familiar!

According to an article that appeared on IO9.com, Star Wars Episode VII villains may have just been revealed. Even though the website quotes other sources, we couldn’t help notice the similarity of the rumored villains with some of the elements we see from SWToR. Needless to say, these rumors have not been confirmed so they should be taken with a grain of salt. IO9 quotes “Latino review” in stating that the main villains of the upcoming Star Wars movie are the Sith Inquisitors who are the defenders of the Sith Order. The movie will tie Darth Vader with the Inquisitors and highlight their relationship to the former. Obviously, the Sith Inquisitor is a very familiar figure in the SWToR universe with a very interesting story line. Another similarity with the original Knights of The Old Republic (KoToR) game is the villain’s description that Io9 retrieved from “Indie Revolver”. According to the latter: He’s tall and thin…

Star Wars Episode 7: Rumor Roundup (June Edition)

We have been hearing some more rumors about Episode 7 and we thought it a good time to do another roundup of what we have heard so far. As always, remember that these rumors are just that for now- rumors. Some are later confirmed to be true in part or in entirety but many more are confirmed a bust. So take it with a grain of salt but it’s also fun to speculate, especially when the company is being so tight-lipped about it. With a franchise like Star Wars, it’s usually the case that not even staff knows 100% what will be real and not until the very end. Here are some rumors from Latino Review: There will be a female villain. Over 50% sure she’s a Sith. I’ll follow up on this in later weeks. Despite having 30 Years after Jedi to set one up, there is NO New Republic at…

Star Wars Episode VII Rumors Swirling: Possible Plot Details

Star Wars Episode VII, first announced back in 2012, is currently the much-anticipated and hyped cinematic flagship of the Star Wars universe. The movie carries quite a bit of importance from the point of view of the recently announced Battlefront 3too, an under-development title, an early trailer of which elicited quite a bit of emotion at the 2014 E3. What is the connection between the game and the movie? While the E3 trailer only showed a handful of action sequences taking place on Endor and Hoth – both original trilogy locations – the developers have hinted at the fact that locations and other elements of lore to be introduced in Episode VII may also find their way into the game. The move would indeed make quite a bit of sense as it would essentially allow the game to ride the hype generated by the movie and vice-versa. Episode VII has…

Episode 7 Rumor Round Up

So now we know the official cast but what other rumors are there about Episode 7? Well, we’ve heard some goodies and we wanted to pass them along. First, let’s talk about titles. What could be the title of the newest film? Well, we know they are not letting that info leak this early but we have some interesting rumors. Latino Review had some info late last year about possible working titles. Kellvin Chavez says he was “exclusively told” that George Lucas had two working titles for the film when he handed it over to Disney: Return of the Sithand Rise of the Jedi. And we also heard Rise of the Empire, The Creeping Fear and Balance of the Force and A New Dawn. And now AICN’s Harry Knowles, tells us the working title is The Ancient Fear. So… take that with a grain of salt because it’s little more than a rumor but it’s interesting…
