Daisy Ridley Says Work was Scarce Right after Star Wars

As the star of a multi-billion dollar franchise, you’d think Daisy Ridley would have no trouble finding a job after filming the latest Star Wars trilogy. Surprisingly, she says she wasn’t swimming in job offers right after (and this was before Covid-19 put a halt on filming). In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly about her voice role in the time-loop video game Twelve Minutes, Ridley talked about her role as Rey in the Star Wars saga, and about how she wasn’t swimming in job offers right away. Roles like Ridley’s Rey are often career-defining jobs for actors. But it’s clear that Ridley also doesn’t want to get typecasted into only one type of role. She talks about it more in a virtual interview with the site. “Nothing was coming through,” the actress recalls of those first couple months after Rise of Skywalker hit theaters. “It was so sad to finish [Star Wars],” she says…

The Most Profitable Star Wars Movies to Date

We have written a lot about Star Wars movies here on the site, especially since the new trilogy was announced, which caused a new surge in popularity for the franchise. The excitement for the new movies was higher than ever before. Old fans of the franchise were excited to see it coming back to the big screen, and it also created new fans in the younger generations who didn’t get to see the first movies back when they came out.  In fact, the new trilogy brought Star Wars back into the mainstream for our generation and also opened the doors for new games, spin off movies, television shows like The Mandalorian and of course, lots and lots of merchandising.  In fact, with how much we’re seeing The Child on merchandise and memes, you’d think he was the star of a hit Star Wars movie. He definitely gave a lot of…

Reappraising ‘The Rise Of Skywalker’

All the hype that came with the original cinema release of ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ seems like it was a long time ago now. It wasn’t, of course – it’s only been six months – but the world has changed so much since then that it might as well have happened in a different lifetime. When you cast your mind back, though, you’ll remember that everyone had very strong opinions about the film, just as they did with ‘The Last Jedi.’ Some people loved it. A lot of people hated it. If we went back and watched it again now, free of all the hype and expectations, would our opinions of it change?  The question is worth asking now, because now is the time to allow yourself a second viewing if you haven’t seen it for a while. On May 4th (the day that the world has happily adopted as…

This Star Wars fan film was made because my son Ralph really wanted to be a Jawa! Here’s a really fun little Star Wars short from ianbenjaminkenny about a Jawa who becomes a Jedi. I want to know more about this little Jawa and his Jedi adventures! Check it out:

‘Star Wars’ Series From ‘Russian Doll’ Co-Creator Leslye Headland in the Works at Disney Plus

In an exclusive interview with Variety, we found out that Disney had something new in the works – a new Star Wars series for Disney Plus from the co-creator of “Russian Doll”, Leslye Headland. I, for one, was a HUGE fan of Russian Doll (Hello? Where’s our Season 2?) and I think this could be a good matchup for the new Star Wars series that is said to be female-centric. The details of the show are being kept secret (of course) but it’s said to take place in a different part of the Star Wars timeline from other projects. If anyone can do a female-centric piece well with strong, likable, relatable female characters, it will be Headland. In addition to her work on “Russian Doll”, she also has writing and directing credits in “Seven Deadly Plays”, “About Last Night”, “Sleeping with Other People”, and “Black Monday” to name a few….

Top 10 Ranking of the Villains in the Star Wars Universe

From the original trilogy to the recently concluded sequels, the Star Wars franchise is filled with memorable villains.  Adorned by brutally minimalist outfits and armour, the bad guys enter with flair (often in a ship that’s flashier than a GClub game). Not all the Star Wars villains are created equal, though. Some are more sinister than others, so to celebrate the gloriousness that is the Star Wars universe, we’ve compiled the Top 10 rogue’s gallery of villains in the franchise. 10. Stormtroopers While they may not be the strongest or most accurate soldiers, stormtroopers are the most ubiquitous antagonists in the galaxy. Whether it’s combing the desert for our heroes or speeding through a dense jungle planet, they’re there to take a beating and make the heroes look good. 9. Greedo While he may only have seconds of screen time, Greedo played a big part in making Han Solo one…

The Cancelled STAR WARS Episode 9 Animated

Want a little laugh in your day? This Animated Episode 9 just made my whole day. It’s a lot of fun and will give you the breakdown of what would have been for the canceled Duel of Fates. Before JJ Abrams came on board for Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker, Collin Trevorrow was slated to direct his own version, Duel Of The Fates. Unfortunately, that would never be. But, what would it have been like? Vastly different to the Episode 9 that we ended up with, it included no Emperor Palpatine, his Master Tor Vallum (using concepts from a cut character from the JJ version) more Rise Tico and General Leia, a double-sided lightsaber for Rey, Kylo Ren as the main protagonist and about the same amount of the Knights Of Ren we actually got. Here’s a great video from Mr Sunday Movies that will tell you all about…

STAR WARS: THE HIGH REPUBLIC PUBLISHING CAMPAIGN Coming in 2020

Interesting news from StarWars.com this week: Later this year, Lucasfilm will launch an epic new era of Star Wars storytelling. Star Wars: The High Republic, which has previously been referred to as “Project Luminous”, will be set in an era when the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order are at their zenith, about 200 years before the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. The timeline of this will not overlap any of the films and the series currently planned for production. This means the creators and partners will have a lot of room to tell these Star Wars stories with new, original characters. These publications will include adult and young adult novels, children’s books, and comics from a wide variety of publishers, including Disney Lucasfilm Press, IDW Publishing, Marvel and Del Rey. There will be something for everyone! “We are so excited to be opening up such a rich, fertile…

The Guide to Star Wars Porn Parodies

As with any cultural phenomenon, Star Wars has porn parodies. A lot of them. Turns out that there is something ridiculously kinky about watching some aliens ‘go at it’ on camera. But, alas, we are not ones to judge. While it is impossible for us to go over every single Star Wars porn parody that has ever popped up over the years, we do have a few ‘favourites’. Star Babe This is actually a unique porn film. Apparently, it realized that Star Wars would be a cultural success and was launched the same year. However, it does not follow the same plot as the movie. You do get introduced to Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper, who of course end up using the ‘force’ on a hot babe. Wookies also make an appearance. Sex Wars Now we are getting more into the ‘actual’ Star Wars territory with this 1986 porn parody….

Solo Movie Advance Ticket Sales Higher than Black Panther

The Black Panther movie broke records right and left as the most popular superhero movie ever. Now Solo: A Star Wars Story is threatening to break some records of its own. It looks like the chances of this stand-alone adventure story being a success are good. This movie covers the story of Han Solo and we meet Chewie and see how he becomes a co-pilot and more. It’s an origins story, hopefully, done right. Tickets for Solo: A Star Wars Story went on sale Thursday night and the first 24 hours of presales have already doubled Marvel’s megahit Black Panther, according to Fandango. It does not beat Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, which remains the fastest-selling film of the year in these early metrics. This is likely good news for Disney, since the Solo movie has had a bit of a troubled production. They had to deal with replacement directors, extensive reshoots, and some poor public perception. It seems that’s all water…
