The Guild Sphere: Venom

Posted by on Feb 9, 2012 in The Guild Sphere | 0 comments

Today we had the chance to speak with Gwabin from the republic guild Venom. Venom plays on the US server “Gauntlet of Kressh”. The guild is currently recruiting all casual players looking for a fun social environment. Check out the interview below: Where did your guilds name come from? Venom came from the Marvel comics character by the same name. Also we wanted a simple but bold name to stand out on our server. Can you give me a quick 2-3 sentance description of your guild? We are a relaxed social guild for all players who want to have a good time while playing and enjoy each others company while helping each other achieve goals in the game. How did your guild come about?.My Brother (Gonzolus), Cousin (Clloud), and I (Ekaj) decided to form a guild where we could have a good time playing the game. We had a guild in WoW by the name of Apathy and decided to run teh same type of guild in SWTOR. What kind of play style do you focus on? PvE, PvP, RP:Mainly PvE but we also PvP from time to time, but whatever play time a player wants to play. What is your guild set up? How do you run your guild? As on now, we have 3 leaders (Ekaj, Gonzolus, and Clloud) who manage new players and recruit. The only rules we have are: Don’t be a d*ck, Try to be helpful, and Dont be a beggar. But the atmosphere is pretty relaxed and usually we joke around about whatever is funny at the moment. How serious do you play and/or run the guild? To be honest, not to serious at all. I mean, we do have our rules but other than that, we just want you to have fun while playing. We don’t tolerate begging, harassment, or childish behavior. Do you have ranks or a certain hierarchy in your guild?I have yet to implement a full officer system since we are still growing but we do have the ranks as follows: 1.Guildmaster 2.Co-Guildmaster 3.Guildmaster Alt 4.Officer 5.Ltn 6.Member 7.Recruit Why did you choose the Republic? We chose Republic due to the heavy server imbalance towards Sith. Just trying to even out the universe i guess. Why do you run a guild? It was hard to find a good friendly guild who jsut want to have fun and joke around. So to remedy that situation, we just made one. How do you approach Raid Planning?Right now thats a long way off, i do plan on getting a voice server soon and the one rule i have is that if you cant at least listen in on a raid, you shouldnt be allowed to go. Are you always open for new recruits or do you want to keep a certain guild size?We are always open for new recruits. Age Requirement? We prefer +18 but as long as you dont act like a 12 year old you should be fine. Guild size?As of tonight its was 35 i believe but we are growing quickly. What makes your guild stand out from everyone else? What makes your guild unique?Aside from the awesome guild leaders and spectacular name? We are one of the few guilds who actually listen to its members and try to make everyone feel welcome. What do you think of the game so far? I do believe it is the best game ever created. What Other Games are you currently playing as a guild?None. It was WoW but ever since Beta opened for SWTOR i couldnt even log on without getting bored of it. If somebody is interested now how and where can they apply for membership? Most members can invite to guild, No application process. A simple “/who Venom” would work and pst any member online and bug em untill they shoot you an invite. One last question, if there was one thing you could ask the Dev’s to include, what would it be?Personally, i would like a companion hide head slot feature. I heard they were implementing a guild bank in march and that was one of my only big complaints. A guild repair service would be nice...

The Guild Sphere: Lucidic Kings

Posted by on Feb 6, 2012 in The Guild Sphere | 0 comments

Today I had the chance to talk to David (King), guild leader of Lucidic Kings. Lucidic Kingswas originally formed as a DCUO guild, but has now also started a SWTOR division. The guild is semi-hardcore Empire guild that is focusing on getting the players for Operations. At the moment they are recruiting all classes and roles of all levels.  Lucidic Kings is active on the West coast US server Vornskr. Check out the full interview below: Where did your guilds name come from?My old roommate Lucide and my character King in DCUO.. Can you give me a quick 2-3 sentance description of your guild? We’re pretty laid back, sometimes offensive. We just enjoy making fun of each other… How did your guild come about?.My old roommate and I wanted a league in DCUO when it came out so we put our first toons names together, Lucide and King, and got Lucidic Kings. We then went about dominating the Last Laugh server. I no longer play DC but I’ve heard LK is doing extremely well over there. What kind of play style do you focus on? PvE, PvP, RP:We focus on PvE and a little on PvP. Some of our members RP (myself included). What is your guild set up? How do you run your guild? We’re all pretty laid back so there isn’t much we do, really. We take a lot of input from members to decide what happens within the guild and do our best to make sure everyone is comfortable. How serious do you play and/or run the guild? In DCUO I was more serious with how I played than in SWTOR. We take raids semi seriously, but try not to make them into a big deal. It is a game, after all. Do you have ranks or a certain hierarchy in your guild?Yes, we do. We have our lowest, and most common rank, for members, then senior members who can invite others to the guild, then officers, the there are the leaders. Right now there are three leaders counting both games, one in DCUO and two in SWTOR. Why did you choose The sith empire? We played villains in DCUO and prefer the darker factions so empire was a rather obvious choice. Why do you run a guild?I made it before Lucide did. It’s also a pretty enjoyable, though sometimes stressful, experience. I get to help the members of my guild, which makes me happy! How do you approach Raid Planning? We post sign ups for raids on our forums. Only Officers and above can lead a raid, though we also allow some senior members to when we need. If you want to run, you post what role you wish to. It’s a first come, first serve basis. Are you always open for new recruits or do you want to keep a certain guild size?Right now we’re open for anyone in both games, especially SWTOR. We tend to keep it open to make it easier for people to form guild groups for stuff. Age Requirement?Yes, 18 or older. I am not getting in trouble for what a kid sees in our guild chat. Guild size?Between both games we have probably over 100 members, but in SWTOR right now we’re still small at five, because I’ve been lazy. What makes your guild stand out from everyone else? What makes your guild unique? We’re all skilled players and are always willing to help those who need it, even if they aren’t in our guild. What do you think of the game so far? I love it! The stories have me mesmerized. What Other Games are you currently playing as a guild?Just SWTOR and DCUO. If somebody is interested now how and where can they apply for membership?Either go to saddestzombie.com/lk and register then send a PM to someone with a BLUE name or send an in game mail or whisper to Mildrea, Soriya, Bom, or Lucide. One last question, if there was one thing you could ask the Dev’s to include, what would it be? That’s a tough one but I’d say either a guild bank or more character creation...

The Guild Sphere: Imperial Security Bureau (ISB)

Posted by on Feb 2, 2012 in The Guild Sphere | 0 comments

Today we feature the republic guild ” Imperial Security Bureau ” ISB is a small guild (around 23 members including alts) looking to increase in size to get ready for heroics and operations. They are a close group of dedicated players that like to have fun and help each other out. Many of the members have experience from WoW and have played MMOs for quite some time. Right now they are looking for some cool people who want to run the end game material and have a good time. All classes/levels accepted! They are always helping each other out whether it’s sending gear, running someone through a flashpoint or leveling alts together. Where did your guilds name come from? The guild name stands for Imperial Security Bureau. It’s those Imperials you see in the movie wearing the uniforms. Our guild consists of many people who are very into the Star Wars lore. Here is a picture of an ISB agent, always makes me chuckle. The two guys on the right are ISB: Can you give me a quick 2-3 sentence description of your guild?A group of Star Wars fans who enjoy PVE and some PVP. We are always helping each other out whether it’s heroic quests, gearing up or running through flashpoints. We are a fun first guild. How did your guild come about?.The core of the guild consists of a group of friends from Colorado. The other members are people who we have met over the years playing various games, but mostly WoW. The majority of us no longer play WoW, but the temptation of a Star Wars game, let alone an MMO was too great. Our powers are weak. What kind of play style do you focus on? PvE, PvP, RP:We mostly focus on PvE although some of our guildies very much enjoy PvP. There are some aspects of RP, but I think at this point we are just focused on getting everyone to 50 and figuring out the game. What is your guild set up? How do you run your guild? We of course have the guild master and then about 2 or 3 people who follow. At this point, the guild is still fairly small. We plan to grow a bit and after that I’m sure a new structure will be put in place to accommodate everyone. How serious do you play and/or run the guild?Right now we are pretty serious about playing. Like I said before, the main focus is to get everyone to 50 and start recruiting a bit. We’ve actually started getting schedules together to create some sort of a raiding calendar. We are probably about a week or two away from getting the majority of the guild to 50. Do you have ranks or a certain hierarchy in your guild? Not at the moment. People do have different titles and can do different functions, but it’s not really necessary at the moment. With more people joining, we will create a more detailed hierarchy system. Why did you choose The sith empire? That’s a good question. We always played horde in WoW and plus the Sith just seem so much cooler. I think we’ve always leaned towards “the bad guys” when it comes to games. Who doesn’t want to play a bounty hunter?!?! How do you approach Raid Planning?Right now we have someone gathering everyone’s availability. Based on that information, we are going to create some sort of Raiding Calendar to try and accommodate everyone. The person doing it has had quite a bit of experience doing this sort of thing in the past. Are you always open for new recruits or do you want to keep a certain guild size?We are definitely open to new recruits now. We don’t want to get too big because we like to stay close with each other, but right now all classes and levels are accepted! Age Requirement?I would say at least 18. Sometimes guild chat can get a little “mature” as far as conversation goes. The majority of us in the guild are 21-28. Guild size?Right now I believe we have about 25 or so total members. Now that is including alts. Usually there are anywhere from 5 to 8 people online at a time, but we hope to grow that number very soon. What makes your guild stand out from everyone else? What makes your guild unique? We like to have fun. Bottom line. Yes we take the game seriously, but we are a fun first guild. People have lives (at least most do) outside of the game and we understand that. Playing these games together is a way for us to have some good company, and enjoy playing a Star Wars MMO. We are also pretty up on our Star Wars lore. We like to pride ourselves in that. What do you think of the game so far? So far I’ve really enjoyed it. I think the storytelling is awesome. I think people need to relax a bit about the bugs. I think people sometimes forget that this game has been out like 35 days now. WoW has been out what, going on 5 years now? Imagine what this game will be like in a year, let alone five. Yes the bar has been set high, but Coruscant wasn’t built in a day. What Other Games are you currently playing as a guild?Right now this would be the main one. I know some of our members play League of Legends every now and then. We also can be seen on Xbox LIVE everyone now and then. I know a lot of the guild plans to play Mass Effect 3 when it comes out. If somebody is interested now how and where can they apply for membership? They can either send an e-mail to TonyS7705@gmail.com or SPCook@gmail.com. If they would prefer to do it in game, they can send a message to either Krezz or Tyan. One last question, if there was one thing you could ask the Dev’s...

The Guild Sphere: Imperium

Posted by on Jan 30, 2012 in The Guild Sphere | 0 comments

In today’s Guild feature,  Zyraal from the Guild Imperium took the time to answer our questions. Imperium are curently looking for active members on Zaalbar US-West PvE, so If you’re a mature, fun-loving, well-spoken/typed(don’t have to be a grammer nazi, just not putting “ne1 want 2 go on sum runz?”) adult with a sense of humor, you might belong in this guild. If you like running ops with a “Come on guys we can do this” attitude instead of putting people down, you might belong here. If you’d rather help than criticize, and have patience if someone doesn’t understand immediately, you might belong here. If you have a slow or non-existant temper, you might belong here. Check out the interview below:Where did your guilds name come from?It actually came from the motto of a previous guild I ran, “ex tripidum imperium” or “From Joy, Power”. We all play games to have fun…if you never forget that and keep it the main focus, the rest comes naturally. The best are often those who enjoy what they are doing the most. Can you give me a quick 2-3 sentence description of your guild? We are an Empire, US-West(We also have an Australian division) guild on the Zaalbar Server, We are a fun, mature, progression oriented guild that welcomes players of all types. Friends, family and other casuals also more than welcome. A good home for people that want to keep the main focus of this game fun, and never have it feel like a job. How did your guild come about?Myself and my Vice-Guildmaster have run guilds before, always with the same focus on fun, and it’s worked out incredibly well. I was a Main Tank Raid leader in WoW and although I loved the guild I was in, I missed being able to so diligently keep the focus on fun and not let the frustrations get to people. What kind of play style do you focus on? PvE, PvP, RP:I would say primarily PvE progression, however with the ease and accessibility of PvP (I actually hated PvP in every other game) we’ve become nearly undefeated in PvP. It’s good quick fun to have during downtimes, and with the focus so much more on good teamwork in this game, an absolute blast with a coordinated group. How is your guild set up? How do you run your guild? For the most part it’s very relaxed, that’s the benefit of seeking out mature people with the same ideals, you don’t have to worry about things getting in the way. Myself and officers really only need to “run” things as in coordinate people, as well as enforcing the guild mission. Eg, I hate drama or extreme cliquishness. I found the easiest way to keep out the politics and drama that happen with many guilds is by just not tolerating it. That’s not how we do things, if you are stirring it up like that, we don’t want you. How serious do you play and/or run the guild?Guild wise, not at all. Doesn’t mean I don’t care, just being serious is overrated. I do put a huge amount of effort into running and keeping everything running smoothly, but for the most part, I’d rather not be serious. I’d rather be laughing and cracking jokes with everyone. On a personal playstyle note, I play to constantly be the best at my class. To that end, and another point that’s very important in our guild, I love feedback. So should every member of the guild. If I’m not doing something or doing something I could be doing better, please, kindly let me know. No one knows absolutely everything ever about the game, we help each other out. Do you have ranks or a certain hierarchy in your guild? Myself, GM S’Miles, Vice-GM Officers Members Recruits  Honestly we have a very loose recruitment policy, owing to the fact that I don’t think you can accurately judge someone without playing/talking with them a bit. Recruit is basically a trial period type thing, until we’re ‘sure’ that person is the type of person we want running with us. Why did you choose the Republic / Sith Empire?Long story that I’ll try to keep short. Many of us rolled Republic first, really disliked it, espcially the fact that most light/dark Why do you run a guild? It’s the best way to ensure the no-frustration, fun, and humor centric atmosphere I, and many others, enjoy. How do you approach Raid Planning? With SWTOR’s 8 man sizes, it’s very different than even WoW’s 10mans. I approach it very fluidly, knowing that coordinating 8 people is much easier than coordinating the 40 of long ago. That’s the other advantage to having a sizable casual portion of membership, you know you always have a sub if you need one. Are you always open for new recruits or do you want to keep a certain guild size?Always open. No sense turning away good people because we ‘have enough’. Age Requirement? We are a primarily mid to late 20s guild. However RARE exceptions can be made. Usually for family members, however they still need to meet our maturity standards. Our maturity requirement is much more rigid. Guild size?Currently ~30 at the moment. What makes your guild stand out from everyone else? What makes your guild unique? Our dedication to fun and humor above all else. I truly feel we have more of a “Hanging out with friends” atmosphere than most progression guilds. What do you think of the game so far?I’m enjoying myself immensely. I think they had a great launch and seem very dedicated to constant improvement. I’m optimistic about the future. If somebody is interested now how and where can they apply for membership?Website: http://z-imperium.swtorhosting.com/Or; Reddit Thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/SWTORGuilds/comments/ory4t/imperium_zaalbar_uswest_pve_18_ops_team_pvp_team/Or: Send me a message in game on the Zaalbar Server. Char Name: Zyraal One last question, if there was one thing you could ask the Dev’s to include, what would it be?Dual...

The Guild Sphere: Martial Cadence

Posted by on Jan 26, 2012 in The Guild Sphere | 0 comments

League of Legends anyone?  Today I had the chance to speak with Eroth from Martial Cadence. The guild is currently recruiting people on Darth Bandon and raid primarily on Tuesday and Wednesday at 8:30p.m. est (7:30 central). they are a guild formed by real life friends and currently the most progressed that they know of on the server, Republic side. They have all but Hard Mode Soa down, and they are looking for skilled players to fill some slots. They are currently looking for ranged DPS especially, and if enough interest is had they will start looking into 16 man. Check out the interview below: Where did your guilds name come from? When we were getting ready for the game to release, we had to deliberate on what the guild was going to be called. After getting some of them shot down that were my favorites, (Serious Business was my favorite of the candidates) I took a name from a League of Legends character. It’s actually the passive on Jarvan IV; after googling what it meant I suggested it to the guild and they accepted it. Can you give me a quick 2-3 sentence description of your guild? We’re a guild made up of real life friends and friends we’ve made while leveling up in Star Wars. We do raids, PVP, and try to keep it friendly by helping out. How did your guild come about? When Bioware set up the ability to start the guilds before launch many months ago, we all got together and made it. After launch we got a lot of our people from talking to the other people leveling and wanting to raid at 50, and we actually did a few cooperative raids before we had enough to field our own raid. What kind of play style do you focus on? PvE, PvP, RP:We’re mostly a PvE guild, but many in guild enjoy the PvP in the game, so you’ll find them doing PvP often. We’re pushing to get all of the Hard Ops killed, but not exceptionally hard for it. What is your guild set up? How do you run your guild?Right now the guild is mainly a casual set up, we don’t have a lot of authoritarian control needed for decisions because we can come to a decision amongst ourselves. How serious do you play and/or run the guild?I’m leveling an alt right now because we are severely lacking ranged DPS, and we need it for fights. I’m not rushing to 50 with it but I’m trying to get it done as quick as possible with my schedule. Do you have ranks or a certain hierarchy in your guild? We do have ranks, but they really don’t mean anything at the moment. They’re mostly there so people can invite who have been around and are good judges of how well someone does. Why did you choose the RepublicIt was pretty much a 50/50, I can’t remember the decision making but it was close for both. Why do you run a guild? We’re currently the farthest progressed guild on this somewhat tiny server, so when it comes to raiding we might as well keep running the guild to try to push. How do you approach Raid Planning? We ask our raiders (8 of them) what time is best, and the general consensus and scheduling fits with 8:30 eastern and on. We usually go for the normals first, then go for the Hard Ops. Are you always open for new recruits or do you want to keep a certain guild size?We are open for new recruits, we have around 12 raiders in our roster and we’re thinking of doing either 16 man or 2 8 mans. Age Requirement? We currently have none, but try to be mature. Guild size? We’re not trying to go for the largest guild, we’re just trying to go for an amount of people that isn’t overwhelming. What makes your guild stand out from everyone else? What makes your guild unique? We have raiders who have experience from other MMOs with hardcore raiding. While the guild wasn’t made specifically for hardcore raiding, we are trying to push forward in progress. What do you think of the game so far? It’s a good game, it needs polish for the endgame for some pretty glaring bugs (Bonethrasher only able to be done on 1 difficulty this week, Soa randomly despawns, Pylon boss just not working sometimes), and the PvP isn’t balanced for competitive play. Other than that, the leveling was great and the flashpoints were well done, just some mechanics need work. What Other Games are you currently playing as a guild? There are some of us who play League of Legends, Tribes, Dungeon Defenders. Not too many as a guild outside of those. If somebody is interested now how and where can they apply for membership? If someone’s interested they can send an ingame mail to Eroth or Skedar, or they can contact me through e-mail at eroth.t@gmail.com One last question, if there was one thing you could ask the Dev’s to include, what would it be?The ability for the Empire to defect to the Republic as a one time thing. I think it might help for some population balance, but it probably would break even more things. Who...
