Star Wars: Battle Pod – From Concept to Cockpit

The official Star Wars Youtube channel posted a video called Star Wars: Battle Pod – From Concept to Cockpit. The video goes behind the scenes of Star Wars: Battle Pod, a new arcade shooter from Lucasfilm, Disney Interactive, and Bandai Namco, in this special video from StarWars.com. Star Wars: Battle Pod, with an enveloping dome screen, air blasts, and rumble, redefines the Star Wars arcade experience for a new generation. The first Star Wars game ever was an arcade shooter, released in 1983, and many other Star Wars arcade games followed through the years — Star Wars: Battle Pod hearkens back to that tradition. “We’re going back to our roots, so to speak,” says Lucasfilm’s Matt Shell, “in developing this really exciting arcade unit.” The game takes players through the original Star Wars trilogy, from the Battle of Yavin to Endor, with some surprises along the way. Combined with…

Galactic Starfighter Changes SWTOR PvP [Plus Domination Video]

12-vs-12 dogfights in space are coming in December. Are you ready? Now that sites are free to talk about and publish stories on the Galactic Starfighter content, we’re seeing more and more info release each day to help us prepare. This is how space battles should have been from the start if you ask me. Gamespot speaks about Galactic Starfighter in SWTOR: Considering the importance of space battles in the Star Wars universe, it was disappointing that ship combat was given such a cursory role in Star Wars: The Old Republic. After all, I can’t imagine A New Hope without the Battle of Yavin, which led to the destruction of the Death Star. (A useless gesture? I think not!) The Old Republic’s single-player on-rails battles looked the part, but they didn’t capture the essence of galactic warfare. With Galactic Starfighter, that’s set to change. And that’s just the beginning of the positive feedback…

First let me point you to this early game leak. You’ll note that many of leaks turned out to be correct. Albeit, not exactly how they were originally found. Patch 2.3 It’s my speculation that Varl is possibly the next daily area/planet we’ll see in Patch 2.3. It’s story is tied closely to that of the Operation Scum & Villainy. The conversation data for this planet has been in the game files going all the…

Faction lore: Galactic Republic

The Republic itself was formed in 25,053 BBY when the first “Galactic Constitution” was signed on Coruscant, after the Corellian Hyperdrive connected many worlds in the Galactic Core. Whether this means that Coruscant was the original homeworld of humans or simply the most powerful world at the time is still up for debate, and there has been little said about the event other than that it occurred. The Republic was made up of several hundred thousand worlds. The Republic, led by a Supreme Chancellor, had a supposedly democratic government that was able to sustain itself for over twenty-five thousand years. It is said that its complete history would “fill a thousand libraries”. In its latest years, it was a benevolent – though ineffectual – government tied up in layers of bureaucracy. History The Human Core around which the Republic was formed Formation The Republic was born with the signing of…

Species of Starwars: Rodian

The Rodian are a bipedal race with tapir-like faces and multifaceted eyes, native to the planet Rodia, which is located in the Tyrius system. The skin of a Rodian is green in color, and there is very little physical variation within the species. Thus, non-Rodians often cannot tell two Rodians apart. The Rodian race has ears that swivel in their sockets, allowing them to hear in several directions. There is a ridge of spikes which crests their skulls, and their long, flexible fingers are tipped with suction cups. They are a race of hunters by nature, and bounty hunting seems to hold a place of high esteem. As a race, they evolved as hunters, surviving their planet’s tropical environment and establishing a series of war games which lasted for thousands of years. When an Old Republic scout team landed on the planet, the Rodians were there to meet them, armed…

Know your lore: Dor Gal-ram

Dor Gal-ram was a Sith Lord in the years leading up to the Great Hyperspace War, 5,000 years before the Battle of Yavin. A member of the Sith species, Gal-ram was native to an area of space known as the Sith Empire. After the death of Dark Lord of the Sith Marka Ragnos, Gal-ram sided with one of the contenders for the title, Ludo Kressh. Kressh’s main rival was Naga Sadow, a progressive Sith Lord with expansionist ambitions. In 5,000 BBY, Sadow staged an attack on the Sith Empire, meant to appear like a Galactic Republic assault, and used this opportunity to declare himself the new Dark Lord of the Sith. This led to a schism between Sadow and Kressh, with Gal-ram siding with Kressh. Sadow then staged another raid, this time leaving evidence that he was actually complicit; upon seeing this evidence, an angered Kressh ordered Gal-ram and a…
