Patch Notes – 2.8.0a

Posted by on Jun 13, 2014 in Patch 2.8, Patch notes | 0 comments

Patch 2.8a is now available for download. Below are the patchnotes: General Group Finder’s Operation queue has been set to 8-Player (down from 16-Player) in order to decrease server load and resolve widespread connectivity and instancing issues. Addressed a bug that caused Legacy cooldown unlocks to not apply properly for certain Abilities. So back to nobody using GF for operations I had nothing but positive experiences running DF and SNV using it, capped out two of my characters at the beginning of the week. I was even bringing out my tanks, which are usually too much of a pain to gear but are fine with the bolster and ultimate comms showing up everywhere now. They better bring 16man...

SWTOR Game Update 2.8: Spoils of War Consolidated Bugs List

Posted by on Jun 11, 2014 in bug, Patch 2.8 | 0 comments

With a new game update comes new bugs. Here a Consolidated Bugs List of all the know bugs in the game right now. If you have found any that is not on this list, remember to report it to BioWare, either ingame or on the official forums. Post #1 Source TaitWatson Oversight: NM DF bosses still have same HP | 06.11.2014, 12:26 PM QUOTE Death_By_Smiley The Nightmare Buff removed the increased damage. It however did not remove the extra HP. Frankly, I’d almost prefer it would stay this way. However, this is, by definition, and oversight, as the nightmare buff was supposed to affect HP. I’ll send this along to the team to see what’s going on. Thanks! Post #2 Source TaitWatson Ajunta Pall’s Mask clipping | 06.11.2014, 12:25 PM QUOTE PavSalco At least in the preview my beard goes through Ajunta’s mask that does not hide it at all. Can any person that equipped the mask confirm this? Thanks for letting me know. I’ll have someone look at it. Post #3 Source TaitWatson DISASTER! Haunted Dreams / Containment not working as intended. | 06.11.2014, 12:24 PM QUOTE HighCounsil Hello beautiful developers! While you did a great job at fixing force lift/whirlwind not being broken through the guard damage, it seems that you’re not there quite just yet. Haunted Dreams/Containment perks for the Madness/Balance skill trees are supposed to make Force Lift/Whirlwind skills to add 2 seconds hard stun upon being broken early from damage. As it is now, there is no such effect and the target is instantly out of a control effect upon taking damage. Please look into this at your earliest convenience and make all the madness/balance players much happier than they are now. Thank you! Thanks for letting me know – I’ll pass it along. Post #4 Source TaitWatson [BUG] KIngpin’s Blaster Pistol | 06.11.2014, 12:22 PM QUOTE Flying-Brian There is a bug on the Kingpin’s Blaster Pistol. The laser sight on the pistol, which displays the color of the color crystal used, is not working. The bug is there when previewed or when it is equiped. When the event was on the PTS, the laser sight was visable and the color would change depending on the crystal used. With the pain in the butt the cirtificates are to win, and the credit sink involed with it, please fix this. I’ve sent this along to the team. Thanks! Post #5 Source TaitWatson Jawa peddlers missing materials and having obsolete materials for sale | 06.11.2014, 12:20 PM QUOTE phalczen Mnek, the prototype material vendor on the republic fleet in the cartel bazaar, part of the new system for exchanging material currency from cartel packs for resources, has in stock prototype materials that are NOT USED in game and are left over from the beta for rise of the hutt cartel. Example: impeccable orange crystals, a grade 9 gemstone that is not used in any schematic. Furthermore, Mnek the prototype vendor lacks a resource that is used, namely, perfect upari crystals, which are used to make gormakk crystal alpha wave inhibitors, one of the few consumables that artificers can make and still earn money on. Finally, the artifact vendor is missing the grade 9 sliced tech part, Thermal Regulators. It has every other artifact sliced tech part except the grade 9s. I’m sure this has been reported before but I’m posting it here for comment. Thanks for the post! I’ll have someone take a look. Post #6 Source TaitWatson Sentinel – Dual Saber Throw w/ Electrobaton | 06.11.2014, 12:37 PM QUOTE Uber_the_Goober Doesn’t animate. Known? This is something we are aware of and looking into – thanks! The color, on the other hand, is working as intended. It is mentioned in the tooltip in the Cartel Market that it retains its original color. Sorry for any confusion! Post #7 Source TaitWatson (Bug) Expert Fighter Battle Harness | 06.11.2014, 12:34 PM QUOTE Eraan Expert Fighter Battle Harness has pretty serious texture bug that is visible in item preview window and in conversations/cinematics. Large part of cloth looks like skin instead of textile. Every body type, race and gender has this issue Example: http://imgur.com/Nm0yf5G Thanks for the post and the picture! I’ll send it to the right folks. Post #8 Source TaitWatson GSF suicide. | 06.11.2014, 12:28 PM QUOTE Seraphaim The last 2 games of GSF i logged into spawned everyone at the center of the map where we all proceded to self destruct without the option to respawn or the respawn points even showing up on the map. I’ll see what I can find out. Thanks! Post #9 Source TaitWatson Cyborg Construct RH-6 (awful colour BUG) | 06.11.2014, 12:52 PM QUOTE Sacrilage Good afternoon. This morning I saw and tried Cyborg Construct RH-6 headgear in the promptness with Gold Scalene Chestguard. On the fitting screen, the image of the character, on the character selection screen, everything looks just fine. As it should look like. But in the game, on all planets, in all colors in objects, everything looks different and very ugly. How looks like on the character selection screen http://min.us/i/KAnSMpVDK1Ib That’s how it looks during the fitting to the character http://min.us/i/uldSxlAjSj21 That’s how it looks in the game (BUG) http://min.us/i/gAFdXjEAEUuT Please fix it as fast as you can I’ll make sure the team is aware if they aren’t already. Thanks! Post #10 Source TaitWatson (Bug) Nimble Brawler’s Chestguard | 06.11.2014, 12:47 PM QUOTE Eraan Nimble Brawler’s Chestguard female body type 2 version has annoying issue in collar near chin. You can see spike coming out of it when character moves her head. It will also move weirdly when character talks. Examples: http://imgur.com/ZdjL0NE http://imgur.com/R8j2vHR Thanks! I’ll make sure the team knows. Post #11 Source TaitWatson Server list is blank | 06.11.2014, 12:43 PM Hey folks! These are symptoms of an issue that we are currently looking into that occurred at the launch of 2.8. You can find the main thread here. Thanks for your post and keep an eye on the main thread for updates! -Tait Post #12 Source TaitWatson Stuck in...

Developer Update: Spoils of War

Posted by on Jun 10, 2014 in Developer Blog, Developer Dispatch, Patch 2.8 | 0 comments

Game update 2.8 Spoils of War is now live, and with it, BioWare posted 3 developer updates and a developer blog.  in These designer Chris Schmidt, PvP Designer Alex Modny, Lead Flashpoints and Operation Designer George Smith and Associate Producer Andrew Horwitz ( many new names here? ), outlines what to expect with the new update. You can read them all in there original form over at the official Star Wars: The old Republic website here and here, or you can read it all below as we have shamelessly copy pasted it all for you viewing pleasure.   Developer Update: Spoils of War 06.09.2014 With Game Update 2.8: Spoils of War right around the corner, the developers wanted to give you some more details about some of this update’s major features. We hope you are as excited as we are to reap rewards through Story Mode Operations, Galactic Starfighter, Warzones, and slot machines on Nar Shaddaa. Nar Shaddaa Nightlife Greetings Galactic Citizens! My name is Chris Schmidt, Designer on Star Wars™: The Old Republic™, and I’m here to talk about the Nar Shaddaa Nightlife event coming with Game Update 2.8! On the Republic and Imperial fleets, you will notice some new floating advertisement terminals perhaps too enticing to ignore. When activated, you are a captive audience for the Star Cluster and Club Vertica Casino advertisements, inviting you to come and experience the Nar Shaddaa Nightlife for a limited time. The heart of Nar Shaddaa Nightlife is the Smuggler’s Luck and Kingpin’s Bounty slot machines. Through these machines, players can win unique weapons, armor, cosmetic abilities, and mounts including an exclusive Rancor mount! Smuggler’s Luck machines consume Smuggler’s Casino Chips, which can be purchased with Warzone Commendations. Players using these machines have a chance of winning additional Smuggler’s Chips, Kingpin’s Chips, or Golden Certificates (more on these in a second). Additionally, the machine will sometimes grant you a Feeling Lucky buff, which increases your chances of winning on a Kingpin’s Bounty machine. Kingpin’s Bounty machines consume Kingpin’s Casino Chips, which can be purchased with Cartel Certificates. These machines award players with Kingpin’s Chips, Golden Certificates, or one of two exclusive mounts. Golden Certificates can be traded in to the Casino Cashier for weapons, armor, and toys. Show everyone your inner Kingpin with your new fedora, or equip the entire set of all-new weapons on your companions to form your entourage! One of the more fun aspects of Nar Shaddaa Nightlife to implement was bringing the casinos to life with ambient spawning, including the VIP area in the back of the Casinos. Here Giradda the Hutt and Baron Deathmark keep an eye on things while Beastmaster from Hutta would like to get his hands on the caged Rancor. With this event, we also introduce some new alien NPC’s to the game, including Aqualish, Snivvian, Ishi Tib, and Klatooinian models. I hope you all have as much fun participating in the event as we had making it, and I can’t wait to see you all on Nar Shaddaa! Good Luck! Chris Schmidt Designer Spoils of War If you enjoy PvP, in either Galactic Starfighter (GSF) or Warzones game modes, Game Update 2.8 is for you. Kicking things off with the Game Update 2.8 launch, all GSF matches will net you Double Fleet Requisition and Credits. Anyone can queue up right away and participate in a match to work towards upgrades to their current ship and help unlock new ships faster. The Galactic Starfighter portion of the event will last until Game Update 2.8.1 so be swift and absolute. Break out your Blackbolt and pick up your Pike, you’ve got Double Credits and Fleet Requisition to earn! During the race to the conclusion of Season 2 from 2.8.1 to 2.8.2 (Season 2 ends with 2.9) players who complete in any Warzone match will receive Double Commendations (Ranked or Warzone depending on the queue) and Credits. Brutalize your opponents in the Warzone queue with a heart pounding match in the Quesh Huttball Pit or take on a gang of 4 vicious opponents with your own team on Makeb Mesa Arena in the Ranked queue to earn more rewards and gear up faster. All while lining your pockets with the Spoils of War. Get in there and go berserk! On top of all that, two new ship variants, the Assault Bomber and Skirmisher Gunship, will be released for immediate purchase of Requisition. If you want to get these ships as fast as possible you can earn them faster quicker by participating in Spoils of War. Please note that these rewards do not include quests associated with Galactic Starfighter and Warzones. They only affect the rewards you gain at the end of the match. Alex Modny PvP Designer Group Finder for Story Mode Operations I wanted to take some time to talk to everyone about the changes we’ve made to Group Finder in Game Update 2.8, specifically for the Operations category, and what we are hoping to accomplish with these changes. The first change we’ve made is that Group Finder will now use the 16 person Story Mode difficulty for Operations. I’m sure anyone who has queued up as a DPS class has lamented the longer queue times for DPS classes versus healers and tanks. Since the tank requirements for 16 person are the same for 8 person, once the tank and healer requirements for an Operation are filled, firing the 16 person version will allow more DPS to participate in each Operation. The 16 person version also boasts greater rewards and has become the most popular Story Mode Operation setting, and this change will allow more people to participate conveniently through Group Finder. The second change we’re making is all players participating in an Operation through Group Finder will be Bolstered to an appropriate gear rating. We’re doing this for a couple of reasons. First, we want to be able to offer all the major Operation content through Group Finder, and since Dread Fortress and...
