The Guild Sphere: Imperium

In today’s Guild feature,  Zyraal from the Guild Imperium took the time to answer our questions. Imperium are curently looking for active members on Zaalbar US-West PvE, so If you’re a mature, fun-loving, well-spoken/typed(don’t have to be a grammer nazi, just not putting “ne1 want 2 go on sum runz?”) adult with a sense of humor, you might belong in this guild.

If you like running ops with a “Come on guys we can do this” attitude instead of putting people down, you might belong here. If you’d rather help than criticize, and have patience if someone doesn’t understand immediately, you might belong here. If you have a slow or non-existant temper, you might belong here. Check out the interview below:

Where did your guilds name come from?
It actually came from the motto of a previous guild I ran, “ex tripidum imperium” or “From Joy, Power”. We all play games to have fun…if you never forget that and keep it the main focus, the rest comes naturally. The best are often those who enjoy what they are doing the most.

Can you give me a quick 2-3 sentence description of your guild?
We are an Empire, US-West(We also have an Australian division) guild on the Zaalbar Server, We are a fun, mature, progression oriented guild that welcomes players of all types. Friends, family and other casuals also more than welcome. A good home for people that want to keep the main focus of this game fun, and never have it feel like a job.

How did your guild come about?
Myself and my Vice-Guildmaster have run guilds before, always with the same focus on fun, and it’s worked out incredibly well. I was a Main Tank Raid leader in WoW and although I loved the guild I was in, I missed being able to so diligently keep the focus on fun and not let the frustrations get to people.

What kind of play style do you focus on? PvE, PvP, RP:
I would say primarily PvE progression, however with the ease and accessibility of PvP (I actually hated PvP in every other game) we’ve become nearly undefeated in PvP. It’s good quick fun to have during downtimes, and with the focus so much more on good teamwork in this game, an absolute blast with a coordinated group.

How is your guild set up? How do you run your guild?
For the most part it’s very relaxed, that’s the benefit of seeking out mature people with the same ideals, you don’t have to worry about things getting in the way. Myself and officers really only need to “run” things as in coordinate people, as well as enforcing the guild mission. Eg, I hate drama or extreme cliquishness. I found the easiest way to keep out the politics and drama that happen with many guilds is by just not tolerating it. That’s not how we do things, if you are stirring it up like that, we don’t want you.

How serious do you play and/or run the guild?
Guild wise, not at all. Doesn’t mean I don’t care, just being serious is overrated. I do put a huge amount of effort into running and keeping everything running smoothly, but for the most part, I’d rather not be serious. I’d rather be laughing and cracking jokes with everyone. On a personal playstyle note, I play to constantly be the best at my class. To that end, and another point that’s very important in our guild, I love feedback. So should every member of the guild. If I’m not doing something or doing something I could be doing better, please, kindly let me know. No one knows absolutely everything ever about the game, we help each other out.

Do you have ranks or a certain hierarchy in your guild?

  • Myself, GM
  • S’Miles, Vice-GM
  • Officers
  • Members
  • Recruits

Honestly we have a very loose recruitment policy, owing to the fact that I don’t think you can accurately judge someone without playing/talking with them a bit. Recruit is basically a trial period type thing, until we’re ‘sure’ that person is the type of person we want running with us.

Why did you choose the Republic / Sith Empire?
Long story that I’ll try to keep short. Many of us rolled Republic first, really disliked it, espcially the fact that most light/dark

Why do you run a guild?
It’s the best way to ensure the no-frustration, fun, and humor centric atmosphere I, and many others, enjoy.

How do you approach Raid Planning?
With SWTOR’s 8 man sizes, it’s very different than even WoW’s 10mans. I approach it very fluidly, knowing that coordinating 8 people is much easier than coordinating the 40 of long ago. That’s the other advantage to having a sizable casual portion of membership, you know you always have a sub if you need one.

Are you always open for new recruits or do you want to keep a certain guild size?
Always open. No sense turning away good people because we ‘have enough’.

Age Requirement?
We are a primarily mid to late 20s guild. However RARE exceptions can be made. Usually for family members, however they still need to meet our maturity standards. Our maturity requirement is much more rigid.

Guild size?
Currently ~30 at the moment.

What makes your guild stand out from everyone else? What makes your guild unique?
Our dedication to fun and humor above all else. I truly feel we have more of a “Hanging out with friends” atmosphere than most progression guilds.

What do you think of the game so far?
I’m enjoying myself immensely. I think they had a great launch and seem very dedicated to constant improvement. I’m optimistic about the future.
