The Guild Sphere: Relapse

Starting off this week, we have a new guild itnerview for you. This time I had the chance to speak with Audentia from the guild Relapse that plays Republic on the EU server Kai-Kan. Relapse is PVE guild and has more or less down the hole game. Check out the interview below:

Where did your guilds name come from?

Relapse:

  1. To fall or slide back into a former state.
  2. To regress after partial recovery from illness.
  3. To slip back into bad ways; backslide.

All our members are ex-raiders from other mmo’s. We believe it’s an appropriate name because hardcore raiding, and the game in general, feels like we are slipping back into bad (but very engaging and enjoyable) habits.

Can you give me a quick 2-3 sentence description of your guild?
Relapse is a (semi-)hardcore raiding guild on Kai-Kan EU. Even though we play on a server that was opened during early access we are not a premade guild. So far we cleared all content on all three difficulties and 8man and will venture into 16man soon. We are still learning to play with each other and trying different ways to structure and lead the guild, but we have been doing very well so far.

How did your guild come about?
On Tatooine the three founders of the guild met in search of the infamous balloon datacron. The datacron takes about an hour to get to because first you need to wait for this painfully slow balloon to arrive and then you need to ride if for about 30-45min. During this dreadful wait we started talking and joking around until someone mentioned the disturbing lack of pve guilds on the server. We all agreed pretty quickly and joked that we should create a guild ourselves. About an hour later we formed Relapse and invited all the other people we met so far. Mostly other 50’s (of which there were few at this time) that we met during warzone premades and alike.

What kind of play style do you focus on? PvE, PvP, RP:
We focus on PvE. We enjoy PvP premades from time to time but just for fun.

What is your guild set up? How do you run your guild?
We have two 8 man raiding groups with similar PvE progress. Soon we will switch to 16 man raids which are undoubtedly more difficult and give no extra loot, but have more prestige I suppose.

How serious do you play and/or run the guild?
We want to be one of the best and at least stay server first. We all work hard to achieve this.
Honestly, some people are more motivated then others. About half of our raiders are farming all the exceptional crafting gear for example. Every raider we have, however, shares our goals and at least does their dailies, farms for Columni (, takes Biochem) and generally does their best with the amount of time they can put in.

Do you have ranks or a certain hierarchy in your guild?
Not really. We have three officers, which are the original founders, but everyone is equal.
For organizing purposes we do have social, recruit and alt ranks.

Why did you choose the Republic
I guess all of us have our own reasons. I personally mostly played alliance in wow and always enjoyed that very much.

Why do you run a guild?
I always played in top guilds and Kai-Kan didn’t have any serious one at the time. Running a guild like that feels good, to give other players possibility to enjoy end-game content.

How do you approach Raid Planning?
We use an events calendar. We have three set days that we always raid and if we need to progress on something we add more days as we all see fit.

Are you always open for new recruits or do you want to keep a certain guild size?
We are always open for new recruits, because competition is good, but at the same time we try to keep the raiding roster small. It’s an interesting thing to balance.

Age Requirement?
Be mature and smart and I don’t care about your age.

Guild size?
Our raiding rosters consists of around 21 active members, but we also have many socials that takes the total up to around 40.

What makes your guild stand out from everyone else? What makes your guild unique?
First of all, we all met in the Star Wars galaxy, not a previous game. Secondly, dedication and fast PvE progress while keeping is possible to have a real life. We only raid three nights a week in most weeks for example.

What do you think of the game so far?
Swtor is a good WoW replacement. At least for me. I’m an oldschool Star Wars fan so I enjoy it even more.
It definitely needs some improvements in the operations department, but I believe the potential is there.

If somebody is interested now how and where can they apply for membership?
You can talk to Audentia , Scram or Liy in game on Kai-Kan EU republic or apply on our homepage: http://relapse-kaikan.swtornow.com/

One last question, if there was one thing you could ask the Dev’s to include, what would it be?
Better itemization and dual spec.
