Insider Look at the Cancelled Darth Maul Game

A game starring Darth Maul, the popular Sith Lord who debuted in Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace… it sounded fantastic. So what happened? Many fans were left disappointed to hear that the Darth Maul Star Wars game would never be. Austin-based developer Red Fly Studio wanted to give a new experience and perspective to the Star Wars story. They wanted to show a dark coming-of-age tale, where players would witness and experience Maul as a young boy being forced into the Sith hierarchy. “We wanted people to see him as a kid kidnapped by emperor Palpatine and tortured – physically, mentally, and emotionally – becoming this powerful Sith Lord,” says a developer who worked on the project but wishes to remain anonymous. “You got angry, you got frustrated, and you made the same mistakes he did. No one has ever seen Sith training up close. No one has ever seen…

Satele Shan VS Darth Maul

Satele Shan vs. Darth Maul – Here’s another versus matchup video we think you might enjoy. Who do you see the victor in this showdown? If you ask me, I say Satele has it by a long shot but it could be just because I am such a fan. This is not to known on Darth Maul. He was an amazing duelist. In fact, were it not for Satele’s ability with The Force, she could easily finish him off. Some will argue that since Shan is a grandmaster, this isn’t even a fight and she would take it by a landslide. However, Maul was very powerful and skilled with the sabers and I still believe would put up a good fight in a versus battle such as this. A lot of it also comes down to timing, and where in their story each is when they are pitted against one…

Footage of the game has emerged online and sources are saying that the game was designed to initially be launched only on the Wii U by the same team that handled the port for Star Wars: The Force Unleashes II. LucasArts was impressed with the initial development work done by Red Fly Studios and decided to also greenlight the title for the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. Prototypes were being created in late 2010 using Darth Maul and his unique double-sided lightsaber as the core feature, but it seems that George Lucas intervened in order to add a cooperative element to the title, with the inclusion of Darth…
