Sculptor Behind Princess Leia’s Gold Bikini: Richard Miller Dies, age 80

Richard Miller, the sculptor behind the iconic gold bikini worn by Princess Leia in the Star Wars film franchise, has died at the age of 80. Born in 1942, Miller began his career as a commercial artist before moving into sculpture in the 1970s. He quickly gained recognition for his work and was commissioned to create a number of high-profile pieces, including the Princess Leia gold bikini, which was worn by actress Carrie Fisher in the 1983 film Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. The gold bikini, which has become one of the most recognizable pieces of Star Wars memorabilia, was created by Miller using a mold of Fisher’s body. The finished product was made of gold-plated metal and was worn by Fisher in the iconic scene in which she is held captive by the villainous Jabba the Hutt. Miller’s work on the gold bikini and other Star Wars memorabilia…

Star Wars Provides New Evidence For The Mandalorian’s Baby Yoda Clone Theory

It’s more than apparent that the real star of The Mandalorian is The Child, or “baby Yoda”, as he has been dubbed by the public. The Child has a very integral role in the storyline of The Mandalorian when the main character is sent to retrieve him, but then becomes suspicious of what they plan to do with him. A new Star Wars book provides more evidence that the Empire was trying to clone Baby Yoda, which was hinted at in Season One of the show. A new, franchise companion guide, aptly titled The Star Wars Book, now lends even more credence to the “Baby Yoda” clone theory. The new Star Wars Book is just one of several hitting the shelves this month. (Another, Star Wars: Fascinating Facts, has already revealed franchise secrets.) The Star Wars Book, however, shares in-universe details. Of those is this line, “Rumors spread of Imperial attempts to create clones of unique species.” We…

Solo Movie Advance Ticket Sales Higher than Black Panther

The Black Panther movie broke records right and left as the most popular superhero movie ever. Now Solo: A Star Wars Story is threatening to break some records of its own. It looks like the chances of this stand-alone adventure story being a success are good. This movie covers the story of Han Solo and we meet Chewie and see how he becomes a co-pilot and more. It’s an origins story, hopefully, done right. Tickets for Solo: A Star Wars Story went on sale Thursday night and the first 24 hours of presales have already doubled Marvel’s megahit Black Panther, according to Fandango. It does not beat Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, which remains the fastest-selling film of the year in these early metrics. This is likely good news for Disney, since the Solo movie has had a bit of a troubled production. They had to deal with replacement directors, extensive reshoots, and some poor public perception. It seems that’s all water…

Amy Hennig Talks Upcoming Star Wars Game Development

During  PAX West, Amy Hennig who is currently working at Visceral Games on a completely new Star Wars action-adventure game, gave some interesting insights into the development of Star Wars games. So we’re working really close, and I’ve been blessed to be working really close with the Lucasfilm story group and Doug Chang, who is their Art Director and Senior Creative Director over there, and that whole team, to say “what is Authentic Star Wars and how do we make more?” Because our project is an original story.” “You need guides, that have done it for a while and are also looking at everything else, because we’re part of the same sort of emerging track of properties that, like obviously seven, eight and nine, is evolving that story further, but films like Rogue One and the Han Solo one that is coming, even shows like Rebels and stuff like that… A lot…

James Earl Jones is Darth Vader in Rogue One

Not only was it recently announced that Darth Vader will be back in Rogue One, we also got some fun info about the voice actor. James Earl Jones is going to be back. While it’s 19 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, Vader won’t be the same type of threat that we saw in A New Hope. This live action return will be small, but still welcomed by fans of the iconic villain. This comes after there were various appearances in the animated series Star Wars Rebels.  According to executive producer Kathleen Kennedy, as said to Entertainment Weekly: “He will be in the movie sparingly. But at a key, strategic moment, he’s going to loom large.” According to director Gareth Edwards, the Vader that will appear in the upcoming standalone film will be more of a mythical threat than an all-powerful leader. “Within the Rebellion, it’s not commonly spoken about,” Edwards says about Vader’s…

Chicago Star Wars Museum Cancelled

In what would have given us another good reason to visit Chicago, we now have news that George Lucas has cancelled the plans to build a Star Wars museum. The Chicago Tribune recently reported that Lucas has halted his Windy City plans to build The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. It would seem that Lucas has spent the past two years arguing with the city of Chicago over the land the museum was to be built on. The story says that back in 2014, a group called Friends of the Parks filed a lawsuit that sought to stop the museum from being built on the Chicago lakefront. they say that anything build on the lakefront has to specifically benefit the citizens of Chicago since this land belongs to them. The Star Wars museum proposed by Lucas would not, in their opinion, specifically benefit the people of Chicago. It doesn’t make a lot of…

It is settled. Supreme Leader Snoke is NOT Darth Plagueis

Ever since The Force Awakens made its big debut, fans have been speculating about Supreme Leader Snoke. We know next to nothing about this villain so far and you can bet that has a lot of people creating their own theories about it. Who is Snoke? Of the many theories out there, some are silly, some are crazy, and some just might actually make sense. Of course, none of us know for certain and we’ll likely have to wait for the next film to come out to get answers to this big question. One of these theories is that Snoke is Darth Plagueis. Slashfilm’s Ethan Anderton dispels this myth in this post: For whatever reason, some Star Wars fans seem hellbent on trying Supreme Leader Snoke to a Sith master who was briefly mentioned in Revenge of the Sith. If you’re one of those casual fans who doesn’t remember this detail, or…
