Win Trading in in SWTOR Season 9 And Beyond

Starting with the end of Season 9, BioWare will have a zero-tolerance policy on win trading in SWTOR. No one knows why it took them 9 Seasons, but here is the news: Win Traders in Season 9 and Beyond | 08.07.2018, 07:15 AM Hey folks, Congrats to everyone who participated in Ranked PVP Season 9! It was a hard fought Season and we look forward to seeing you around the fleet with your weapons, mounts, and flairs. One thing that unfortunately comes up during and after a Season is about players who cheat, and in particular, win trade. These are players who manipulate Ranked matchmaking to play with and against specific players in an effort coordinate winning and losing, allowing them to boost a specific characters ratings. This behavior is against our Terms of Service and is something that players have to endure and we have to combat every season. With Season…

Bioware taking actions against SWTOR companion gift exploiters

Eric Musco have informed the players, that BioWare is taking action against the wave of companion gift exploiters. Hey folks, Keep in mind that we try to avoid talking about exploits and action taken against players. However, I know there is a bit of concern about this exploit and its implications on the game so here is where things stand. We have already begun taking action against players, but the brunt of those actions are still to come. As you might imagine, gathering all of the data to understand who exploited and what they did with the money, takes quite a bit of time. Know that over time we will be applying account actions, along with removing a large quantity of credits and other ill-gotten gains. Part of what takes so long is that some players know they are doing something they shouldn’t and so they try to hide it….

SWTOR Emergency Galactic Command Exploit Hotfix

Bioware took down the servers yesterday for an emergency hotfix involving an exploit with the Galactic Command sytem. Hey everyone, Apologies for the last minute notice, but we will be bringing the servers down at 1:45 PST (2145 GMT) for a brief update. I will post as soon as the servers are available, but we don’t expect the downtime to last more than an hour. -Tait Downtime – 12/5/2016 | 12.05.2016, 10:11 PM Hey everyone, We brought the servers down to address an issue involving setting the stack size in the “Disintegration” pop up higher than the amount you had available. As of this downtime, this issue has been fully resolved. For those who are wondering, we do consider having taken advantage of this bug an exploit. After a detailed review, we will take appropriate actions as needed. Thank you, Tait Downtime – 12/5/2016 | 12.05.2016, 10:21 PM As there seems…

SWTOR Win-traders, Exploits, and Actions Being Taken

Eic Musco updated the SWTOR Community about BioWare taking actions against PVP Win traders in Star Wars: The old Republic Hey folks, Now that we are a few weeks into the Season I want to give you an update on actions we are taking to keep the Season as fair as possible. First, we have identified some players who were participating in win-trading. Those players have had appropriate actions taken against their account. We will continue to monitor this throughout the rest of the season. Accounts that partake in win-trading will receive action up to and including suspension time and ratings being reset across their account. We know that there have been questions this season specifically regarding the use of hacks and exploits. Know that since the start of the season we have been very aggressively seeking out and sanctioning the accounts involved. If you suspect that a player is…

SWTOR: Actions Taken Against Patch 4.3 Exploiters

As we mentioned yesterday, there is a major exploit going on in SWTOR right now. Eric Musco took on the forums and informed players on the patch 4.3 exploit that was going around and has since then being fixed. Hey folks, As many of you may have heard rumor of, there was an exploit which was introduced in Game Update 4.3. We have since addressed the issue and the exploit is no longer possible. However I wanted to share some details on what happened and what action we are taking. Without going into too much detail, there was an issue tied to certain players accounts which allowed them to very easily create large quantities of credits through use of in-game mail and trading. We got reports over the past few days that players randomly received very large sums of credits and this was instrumental in helping us find isolate who had…

Bioware on Squelch Abuse in SWTOR

Apparently some guilds in SWTOR use something called squelch abuse. The squelch system works as an anti-spamming system,  that automatically revokes all chat/mail privileges for a player if someone were to send out the same message repetitively – Think credit sellers etc. This system has also been expanded to reporting spam, and apparently people are coordinating to abuse the system to report non-spammers of spamming to trigger the system to grief players they don’t like. Eric Musco went on the forums to post Bioware’s stance on it: Sucks to be Squelched | 03.21.2016, 12:59 PM Hey folks, Let’s talk a little bit about our squelch system that is in the game. This system was implemented quite some time ago as a method for players to not only avoid filling up their /ignore list, but to also help in getting a lot of those pesky Credit Sellers out of chat. This has been very…

SWTOR: News on the Item Stack Resale Exploit

Eric Musco has some updates from the  swtor devs over at Bioware, regarding the Item Stack exploit. Apparently  more than 500 accounts have being perm banned for now.  Make me wonder if you can sue BioWare for a banning? Anyways. Below are the news: Here is another update on the exploit, and the action we have taken. We are continuing to investigate accounts and action is on-going. Here are the actions we have taken against accounts: Suspension time, up to and including a permanent ban (more than 500 accounts have been permanently banned so far) Removal of all Credits Removal of all Currencies Removal of all items which could be gotten from the exploit, including recurring Event Currencies and Companion gifts Resetting of all Companion Influence to 0 Resetting progress of all Alliance Commanders to 0 The nature of this exploit is that players could use it to gain a wide array…

SWTOR Item Stack Resale Exploit

A statement has been publxihed regarding the  Item Stack Resale Exploit that has been in the game since 4.0: Item Stack Resale Exploit | 12.08.2015, 03:55 PM Hey folks, As of today’s patch, we fixed the following bug: It is no longer possible to purchase a stack of items and resell individual items for the price of the entire stack. In a previous exploit, we were very up front and very public about its existence. We raised warnings as soon as we discovered the issue associated with the Temple Chair, with the hopes our players would not use it. What we discovered, were many players using a variety of ways to try and mask what they were doing and who they were. So, this time, we returned to removing visibility until we resolved it. This bug created an exploit where a player could make large quantities of various currencies in the…

SWTOR Exploit: Buying and Re-selling the Temple Chair decoration

With the new patch 3.2.2 that came out yesterday, players have experienced, that the Temple Chair decoration can be purchased for 1 credit and sold back for 100 credits – A pretty good deal one have to think. This is considered an exploit though, and Eric Musco has commented on this warned players. Check it out below: Temple Chair (Basic) Exploit | 06.23.2015, 07:07 PM Hey folks, In today’s patch, we placed Temple Chair (Basic) onto the Esstran Exports vendor for one credit. After bringing the servers live today we noticed that currently, you can sell the Chair back to the vendor for 100 credits. Obviously, this is not intended. As stated before, when these issues arise we want to make sure we get out in front of it as quickly as possible and are open with you about what is being done. For the time being, please do not…

BioWare is taken action against players exploiting Ziost Bug

SWTOR Game update 3.2 came with an unfortunate bug yesterday, letting players have access to the Ziost operation boss via what apparently is an exploit. I must admid that this surprised me, as I have been using the “exploit” my self. I personally thought it was just another new secret area. The whole point of hunting for datacrons, especially Makeb, is to train us to be good at accessing areas that are not genearally easily accessed – but apparently I was wrong. Here is the news from Eric: So Bioware, about people bypassing the locked part on Ziost to fight the OP Boss etc. | 04.29.2015, 03:15 PM One of the things we tried to be clear about with the Ravagers is that we are serious about handling exploits. With that exploit, the Ravagers we were open about our process and the action we were taking. For this issue with Ziost, we are going to…

Actions for The SWTOR Ravager’s Exploit

The verdict is here. BioWare have now finalized the punishment for the Ravagers exploit, here are the details: Hey folks, As I talked about in my previous post we needed to finalize our data and ensure that we were ready to move on appropriate actions for those players who abused the Ravager’s Exploit. Since we have been a bit more open in our process regarding this particular exploit, we thought it would be best to bring it full circle and tell you specifically what we are doing to those players. As of this post, our actions against players has begun. Here are the types of actions we are taking based on the severity of their exploits: Received a warning along with anywhere between 1-7 days of in-game suspension time. Anyone who received an in-game suspension will also lose their forum privileges for the same period of time. For our most egregious…

Ravagers Exploit Action Update

Eric Musco updated the community on the Ravagers exploit. BioWare will be be taking actions on this before end of next week. Ravagers Exploit Action Update | 01.13.2015, 03:56 PM Hey folks,Let’s talk a bit about the Ravager’s exploit. There are two stages to the process of removing an exploit and handling actions for players who participated. Stage 1 – fix the issue and ensure players can no longer partake in the exploit. That change is out as of today in patch 3.0.2. Stage 2 – With the exploit removed, we can work towards finalizing our data review and assigning appropriate actions. We have a lot of information! We know who used it, who they invited, how many times they exploited, when they participated, credits gained, and whether they gained a crafting pattern from reverse-engineering. We are still reviewing the data and determining the appropriate action for those who took…

BioWare responds to the current exploit “going around”

Eric Musco has taken on the forums, and explained that BioWare are aware of an exploit taking place in game,  and that they will be taking appropriate action against those who have abused it. It is BioWares current plan to implement a fix for this issue next Tuesday, January 13, 2015. The Current Exploit “Going Around” | 01.07.2015, 07:28 PM Hey folks, Normally when an exploit exists, it is our policy to remain quiet until the issue is fixed. The reasoning behind that policy is that if we talk about or acknowledge an exploit, it can create a situation where we draw more attention to it. This can include people who didn’t previously know about it and can unintentionally make the issue more widespread. Without being specific, there is an exploit which has been present for a couple of weeks, that unfortunately has become more widespread than we typically see. It is being…
