SWTOR Pre-Orders will open on July 21st and other Rumors

The rumor mills were buzzing yesterday and today about pre-orders, pricing, collector’s editions and release date announcements for SWTOR. First, we stumbled upon the screenshot of EA Support saying that Pre-Orders would open on July 21st:

Then we also got a report about a pre-order placed with the online retailer hmv.com being cancelled. This was presumably because there will be new, upcoming news about preorders. Our belief is that they buyers first bought it for 26.99£ but now the price will be more like 35£.

With Spanish and Polish retailers putting out info about the pre-order, it seems like this was more than just another rumor in the rumor mill. One of the more interesting screen shots shows the Collector’s Edition package.
Gamestop was another retailer that put out early info about the pre-order that was later was removed. According to Gamestop’s site, the Collector’s Edition will run for $149.99 retail and will include:
  • Exclusive Gentle Giant Darth Malgus statue
  • Star Wars: The Old Republic game disks in collectible metal case
  • The Journal of Master Gnost-Dural annotated by Satele Shan
  • The Old Republic galaxy map
  • Music of Star Wars: The Old Republic CD
  • High-quality Collector’s Edition box
Pre-order accounts will also receive the following in-game bonuses and items:
  • Flare Gun: Fire flares into the air
  • Training Droid: Hovers at your side for combat assistance
  • HoloDancer: Project your own holographic dancer
  • HoloCam: Keep visual records of in-game adventures
  • STAP: Sleek and unique in-game vehicle
  • Exclusive Mouse Droid: Spunky Droid to join your adventures
  • Exclusive Collector’s Edition Store: Unique in-game vendor with an assortment of items
With all the rumors going around, you can bet that Stephen Reid would need to give some time of response. He couldn’t just ignore the barrage of tweets, right? His tweet on the matter could be considered foreshadowing:
So it sounds like San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) is going to be good to SWTOR fans this weekend. Let’s all hope the news they give is worth the wait for anxious fans!
