History of Lightsabers in Star Wars Games 1983 – 2020

Nothing is as iconic to Star Wars as the lightsaber. Everyone, even people who are not fans of the franchise, is familiar with the infamous lightsabers. The latest Star Wars game, Jedi Fallen Order, has a heavy focus on lightsabers. It’s basically a lightsaber-focused combat game. Which brings up a fun and interesting point: How many Star Wars games have their been to feature lightsabers and lightsaber battles? These glowy weapons have become synonymous with Star Wars over the years. Let’s take a look back on all the games with lightsabers from 1983 to today. That’s exactly what Bombastic has done here in this video. Grab some popcorn or your favorite snacks and settle on in for a fun overview. I was sick and tired of the cancellations of Star Wars games and I was looking for something to really blow them all out of the water. Early impressions of Fallen Order didn’t do that. Thankfuly for all of us, they improved upon it. Check out the video (it’s just under 30 minutes) to learn more about this game and why we think it’s pretty darn amazing. Is This the End for Star Wars Battlefront 2?

Things in the video game industry can move pretty quickly sometimes. And other times they can crawl like a snail. Due to the coronavirus pandemic sweeping the globe right now, we’re seeing unpredictable behaviors in our games, especially multi-player games. Star Wars Battlefront 2 is not immune to this. We already reported that the Battle of Scarif update has been postponed. Given the state of things in the world, this is understandable and that alone is not reason to suspect the game could be on the decline. There are some other concerns being discussed such as the favorite community manager stepping down from the role because he got a promotion and there’s been no mention of who the replacement for Ben will be. In this video, TheOzzyJedi talks about why he’s a bit worried about Star Wars Battlefront 2. Again, we’re taking longevity of the game. Of course, we know…

War of the Stars Documentary

What does Star Wars mean to you? For many of us, it reminds us of our childhoods. It brings happiness, it brings nostalgia, it’s a story of hope, and a story of good triumphing over evil. For many people, it was and still is a way to escape for the real world. It’s a way to get lost in the fantasy, the drama, the lightsaber fights, and it’s an epic tale of hope and forgiveness. In the Polish fandom, it means all of that and more. Imagine if it meant all of that to you, but… it was illegal to have access to it. What if it was illegal to watch the movies, or to collect the merch? The Iron Curtain was the political, military, and ideological barrier erected by the Soviet Union after World War II to seal off itself and its dependent eastern and central European allies from…

The Cancelled STAR WARS Episode 9 Animated

Want a little laugh in your day? This Animated Episode 9 just made my whole day. It’s a lot of fun and will give you the breakdown of what would have been for the canceled Duel of Fates. Before JJ Abrams came on board for Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker, Collin Trevorrow was slated to direct his own version, Duel Of The Fates. Unfortunately, that would never be. But, what would it have been like? Vastly different to the Episode 9 that we ended up with, it included no Emperor Palpatine, his Master Tor Vallum (using concepts from a cut character from the JJ version) more Rise Tico and General Leia, a double-sided lightsaber for Rey, Kylo Ren as the main protagonist and about the same amount of the Knights Of Ren we actually got. Here’s a great video from Mr Sunday Movies that will tell you all about…

The Philosophy of Kreia: A Critical Examination of Star Wars

If you have been a Star Wars fan for a long time, or if you’d what you call a “hardcore” fan, then you’ve probably at some point discussed the philosophies behind the Stars Wars universe. There is more to it than Light Side vs. Dark Side and lightsaber battles. And who determines what is “good” and what is “bad”? Here’s a great film that breaks down the philosophy of Kreia, a popular Star Wars figure from KOTOR 2. Personally, I loved her and I know a lot of other players did as well. This is long, but well worth the watch. The character Kreia from the game Knights of the Old Republic 2 is arguably one of the greatest female characters in gaming. However, despite her fame, much of her philosophy has been misunderstood due to the puzzling manner in which the game presents her backstory and motives. This video…

The Rebel Alliance has destroyed the Death Star, defeated Darth Vader and the Emperor, and driven the remnants of the old Imperial Starfleet to a distant corner of the galaxy. Princess Leia and Han Solo are married and expecting Jedi twins. And Luke Skywalker has become the first in a long-awaited line of Jedi Knights. Accidental Cross-play Creates Havoc in Star Wars ‘Jedi Academy’

Leave it to veteran gamers to find (and exploit) game glitches when they find them. That’s pretty much happened this week when veteran PC players of Jedi Academy realized they could invade console games. As we reported recently, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy just recently released for the PS4 and the Switch. Many excited console gamers logged on to play, only to discover an unexpected enemy: PC players of the game. “Apparently all you have to do is take the server IP from a console match, which is clearly visible on console, and enter it in the PC server browser and join,” May Payment noted on the ResetEra forums. “I joined a game where one player was absolutely mopping the floor with us and he had .twitchtv in his username. Sure enough, I looked him up and he was playing on PC in a switch server absolutely decimating everyone.” Not only are more experienced players…

Star Wars Battlefront II Update Delayed by Coronavirus Pandemic

The coronavirus pandemic sweeping the globe is impacting every industry, and the gaming industry is no exception. The popular Star Wars Battlefront II was set to receive a pretty big update this past week. The anticipated Battle of Scarif Update (free) would be adding a lot of new content for players to consume. It was expected to add the planet Scarif to Supremacy and other game modes. It also brought Original Trilogy content to Supremacy. However, this major update has since been delayed. To prevent the spread of the virus and keep people safe, employees from industries all over the globe are laid off or transitioned to working from home. DICE is included in this, which is why the update has been postponed, but not canceled. “The Star Wars team have now moved away from our office setup and into our homes,” an official statement from the game’s community manager, Ben Walke…

Ahsoka Standalone ‘Star Wars’ Series Coming to Disney+

Fans of Ahsoka are going to be very excited about this one. I know I am! There have been a lot of delays and cancelations happening in the entertainment sector these days, due to a global pandemic. But there’s one thing we can all look forward to. Great news coming out of a somewhat bleak month, Disney announced they had cast Rosario Dawson to play a live-action version of Ahsoka Tano, previously only a Clone Wars and Rebels animated character, to guest star in the upcoming second season of The Mandalorian. And since then, we’ve heard rumors that this is really a backdoor pilot for a standalone Ahsoka series that will star Dawson, to run on Disney+. This would be a great way to introduce the character with a tie-in and create hype before releasing her own series later. And we’re all about that! She’s an amazing start with over 112 acting credits to her name, including…

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy Now Available on Switch and PS4

A classic favorite, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy is now available for the Switch and PS4. The game that was originally released in 2003 is now remastered and making a comeback to some new platforms. It’s been updated with some new, modern controls. If you’re not familiar with the game, it puts you in the role of a new student at Luke Skywalker’s Jedi Academy and you will fight a mysterious Sith cult throughout the galaxy. A fun aspect of this game is that it allows you to customize your character’s species, appearance, and gender, rather than choose from a pre-set player character. You can also forge your own lightsaber design and choose from the different hilts and saber colors. How cool is that? There’s a single-player mode as well as a multi-player mode for you to enjoy and the controls are updated for the PS4 port so it…

Star Wars 1313 WAS Going to be about Boba Fett

Remember Star Wars 1313? The gritty game we were all looking forward to that was unfortunately canceled before it ever had a chance to get off the ground? Well, there were a lot of rumors going around about this game. People were excited for it because it offered something very different from most Star Wars games up to that point. And a lot of people thought it was going to start Boba Fett (or a similar bounty hunter character). A screenshot that was allegedly shot from the game shows what a lot of us suspected – it may have been about Boba Fett. Shared on Reddit by LifeByTheSword, the screenshot definitely gives us the feel of Boba Fett. Other notable things from this screenshot: The graphics were really far ahead of their time. The game is so crisp and clean. The darkness in the background also has a dystopian feel to it….

Remnants of the Order – A Star Wars Fan Film

If you’re stuck in your house for social isolation, it’s a great time to catch up on some Star Wars fan films! That’s what I’ve been doing and I have a few great ones to bring to you over the next few days (or weeks). Starting with Remnants of the Order. This one is from FantastFilms and it’s a full-length film that comes in a little over 20 minutes long. The acting is great, the characters have real personality, and the film overall is well shot. I really love the look and feel of the whole thing We even get to see some personalities from the Troopers and it makes them feel more humanized and not just like fighter bots like some films. If it feels a little slow in the beginning, give it time. I got so invested around mid-way through, I just had to see what happened next!…
