A Look Back At KOTOR 2

In the Star Wars universe, we usually find it easy to see the difference between the Dark Side and the Light Side. Lightsaber colors, clothing choices, and other factors make it clear which side a character is on. This battle for balance between the Dark and Light is part of the point of the Star Wars story. If you played KOTOR 2, however, you start to see for the first time in a Star Wars game that there is grey area. Sometimes it’s not so easy to block a character into one side of the other. KOTOR 2 is the perfect example of this. In this game, the villain is not always so easy to spot. Sometimes the lines between “good” and “bad” are blurred, or difficult to spot. This is something that adds a new, creative, and more interesting element to KOTOR 2, versus KOTOR 1. Sometimes characters are just “grey”, meaning they don’t fit neatly in one box or the other. We see more of this in KOTOR 2 also.

While KOTOR 2, created by Obsidian, was not quite as popular as the original KOTOR, created by BioWare, it was still a popular and successful game. While many will tell you KOTOR 1 is the better game, and we recently did a story on KOTOR 1 vs. KOTOR 2, but here in this video, we get in-depth commentary and analysis into why one fan thinks KOTOR 2 is the superior game.

In the video below, nerdSlayer takes a look back at KOTOR 2, provides a brief history for those who may not be all that familiar with the game, and also goes into some story and psychology behind this game. There are some spoilers in the video, which begin around the 9-minute marker and he warns you first.

“An in-depth review and analysis done on Kotor 2, my favorite Star Wars games of all time. This game (with new steam support, and widescreen support) cost $9.99. PLEASE buy it, it will be one of the best purchases you have ever made (and I don’t get a dime for saying this).”
